My husband and I are planning a trip to NYC in June and have heard it is nice to walk the Brooklyn Bridge in the evening and have dinner in Brooklyn. Anyone know of a good (not too expensive) restaurant on the Brooklyn side within walking distance?

Try www.zagat.com or Citysearch. I'm sure someone will suggest Grimaldi's for pizza, but I've never been there myself.

Two restaurants seem to fit the bill. Grimaldi's Pizza, the best rated pizza in NYC (by Zagat's) and a personal favorite, is just a few blocks from the bridge on Old Fulton Street. Also, I have heard that Noodle Pudding is a very good & reasonable Italian restaurant. It's on Henry Street and is one of the closest restaurants to the bridge (jeez...I've lived in the 'hood for several years, you'd think I'd have tried it by now!). Also, for dessert, the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory (closed Mondays) has REALLY good homemade ice cream...and it's located in the most beautiful location in all of NYC (IMO), on the pier at the end of Old Fulton St (in the lighthouse).<BR><BR>Other restaurants on Old Fulton Street include the River Cafe (top-rated, VERY expensive) and Pete's Downtown (great view, so-so food.

I live in the neighborhood as well and have tried Noodle Pudding - very good food - what about Henry's End - on Henry Street also. Both are pretty small and seem to get very crowded try to get there early - sixish.

Hi Suzanne - Haven't been there yet this year but remember something with steak (which I very rarely eat) was good - sorry can't be more helpful - do you go to Henry's End at all?

I haven't been there either...I think my b-friend was turned off by all the game on the menu. And since it's pricey, I didn't want to try it until I heard some recommendations. Have you tried it?

Was there a couple of weeks ago - had a fish dish, also chicken dishes are good - wouldn't eat game either - but there are numerous choices plus daily specials - give it a try!

Is Bouillabaisse still open? That's on Atlantic Ave. There's also Pete's Tavern on Atlantic or the restaurants on Montague Street.

I'll only add that not only is Grimaldi's pizza the best in NY, it's actually rated in the top ten overall for food in New York City in Zagat.<BR><BR>Montague St. also has some pleasant - though hardly spectacular options. Also would give a visitor a nice chance to enjoy Brooklyn Heights - a totally charming neighborhood.<BR><BR>Enjoy!

One of my favorites in that area is Teresa's. It has Polish specialties but also has plenty of American items. It's just a block away from the Brooklyn promenade, which is a great place to take a stroll afterwards. I know you mentioned dinner, but I'd recommend this place for brunch as well.

Talking of Montague St. also, there is the Heights Cafe on the corner of Hicks Street and then just a short stroll to the Promenade for the view.

Mara - did you see that Tinto Tapas Bar on Henry Street changed overnight into a new restaurant?! There were lots of people there last night. I wonder if it'll be any good.

Grimaldi's reigns for Pizza...why not also consider Smith Street IMO much hipper than Brooklyn Heights Montague St. and a great selection of restaurants. After a stroll on Smith St. You can walk toward Brooklyn Hghts. and end the evening on the Promanade or go toward the water front area for ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory.<BR>Brooklyn rocks.
