dinner in/around mid-town - and i can expense it.
where is a good place to go - okay, not just good, but kick-ass.
we aren't picky eaters (just no italian, as we have someone w/ dietary restrictions), and i can write it off for work. will be in midtown, but surrounding areas aren't out of the question. |
Midtown Minneapolis? Des Moines?
If this is NY, I'd say leave Midtown and go to Union Square or Tribeca. |
I guess I missed something.....Where on earth do you plan to be midtown in?
|
UGH. what's the point of posting to a sub-forum if it doesn't indicate it.
midtown manhattan. and, unfortunatly, we will likely have to stay around midtown. my biz associates don't want to venture far off from the hotel. ...so, i'll just ditch them after din-din. :) |
THERE IS NO SUB FORUM. There is only 1 board and the search feature is for,,,,searching for a particular subject.
|
LayingBlames don't worry about it; some people will use the function to just look at the things that were listed by someone picking "New York" when they wrote their question; others with the time/interest to do so will view everything that is on the left-hand side of the screen. It's confusing, although I (and I'm sure a lot of other people) saw "Midtown" and knew you were most likely talking about NYC.
Anyway, are you limited to Midtown (which does have some excellent restaurants) or would you be interested in something in a nearby neighborhood? |
I can see why the OP got their name!!! UHG my akahine!!
Jump in a $5-$10 cab and go to Union Square Cafe, or Gotham, or Babbo -no that's Italian. Curious, what dietary restictions would rule out Italian, but no other ethnic preperations? Very cureous, as I have no idea what to recommend with such a vague comment. |
Per Se? Daniel? Landmarc? Gramercy Tavern? Have a look at these on menupages.com or get a Zagat guide.
|
depends. there is a great italian rest on 57th and lex. there is always michaels on 55th b/t 5th and 6th. lever house is a great business dinner place. michaels has good wine. nobu 57 if you want sushi. alta is you want tapas. those are off the top of my head.
and if you didnt know midtown meant manhattan ;) well i dont know what to say about that. |
Seafood? Le Bernardine or Sea Grill at Rock Center. Per Se will wow most people - if you can get reservations. (And what do you mean by write it off - if I had turned in an expense report with a dinner at $500 per person I don;t think the comptroller would have been happy. So - I'm assuming there's some control.) |
dietary restrictions means gluton free - meaning no pasta. and thus no italian.
|
or gluten, it i could spell. well, it's not my dietary restriction!
as i mentioned - pretty much restricted to midtown. *i* don't mind taking a cab wherever. it's the other people who want to stay in the general area. |
Gluten free doesn't have to mean no Italian. there are dozens of choices of meat, chicken, seafood with veggies - no rule you have to eat pasta.
|
Even restricting your choices to the midtown area still doesn't help us much in giving recommendations, since there are still hundreds of restaurants to choose from. How about some idea on price and type(s) of food.
Telling us that you can put the dinner on an expense account really doesn't help much in telling us how much you want to spend! |
Maybe where you come from Italian means Spaghetti bolo and nothing else. But most Italian dishes have no wheat/pasta at all . . .
W/o a budget of some sort it is really hard to give you reasonable suggestions. |
Never been but if I was on an expense account I wouldn't mind checking out L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon at the Four Seasons.
Anyone been since it opened last summer? |
Midtown east or west? If Midtown West, dinner at Jeans Georges is also wonderful.
|
Le Bernardin
|
BLT Steak -57th/Park
|
Until such time as the OP tells us how much he wants to spend, all of our advice really isn't that much help!
