Dinner in Anchorage
Hi we will be landing inAnchorage around 545 local after flying all day from Florida. We are staying downtown that night preparing for a land sea tour of Alaska. Any ideas of good restaurants for supper near 5th avenue? We have a party of 8 people.
Thanks for your help!

Red Robin...
There is no Red Robin at Northway Mall. It closed couple years ago. Northway Mall is also not downtown.
Downtown has a fine selection of very good restaurants (all searchable). Among them are:
Sacks Cafe
Orso
Glacier Brewhouse
Club Paris
Crows Nest
Marx Bros.
F Street Station
Simon & Seaforts
My favorite is Sacks. Glacier Brewhouse is liked by many, but it is very loud inside and yo won't be able to hold a conversation. I highly recommend a reservation for any of these in the summer

sdpryde is correct about Glacier Brewhouse being loud. Reservations are a necessity, IMO. Ginger is also in the downtown area and very good too.

Enjoy your trip, Tom. If nothing else, take the short drive through the tunnel to Whittier. The scenery is spectacular, and you could choose a short cruise, just under 4 hours. Very calm waters on a catamaran.

I would recommend the Glacier Brewhouse which is right on 5th Avenue. I've been there a number of times and never had a bad meal. The brew their own beer (if you're in to that) which are really good. There's also Orso which is also on 5th. Again good food, Italian.

Orso has a smoked salmon and clam chowder that is simply outstanding! Lots of good seafood entrees too.
