Dinner before Kennedy Center

Hi all, I'm getting ready for a trip to DC with my mom and aunt and wanted some feedback...

We're going to see a show at the Kennedy Center on a Friday night, and are planning to eat dinner before. I know there are a lot of places immediately near KC and/or the Foggy Bottom metro, so here's my plan :) We'll get off the metro one stop early at Farragut West, then walk to Foggy Bottom to catch the KC shuttle, with the hopes of finding a good restaurant between the 2 stations. Does this sound like a workable plan to those who know the area? Any recommendations for restaurants along that route? We don't need anything especially fancy, something in the $20-$30 range. Thanks!

We went to a concert on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago. We met friends for dinner at TGIFridays (within walking distance of Foggy Bottom and the Kennedy Center) at 6:30 pm. The place was jam-packed and we were lucky to get a table. We made it to our seats with less than 5 minutes to spare.
So....I suggest you plan for an early dinner to ensure you have time to find a restaurant you like and one which isn't full of D.C. workers enjoying a Friday night out.

Try Dish and Notti Bianchi. These are the 2 restaurants the food critic from the washington post newspaper recommends when people are looking for a place close to the Kennedy Center.

What about the restaurant inside the KC? The Roof Top Terrace--I haven't been there since February but it's listed on the KC web site and I recall having lamb shank that was good.
The best part about being on the top of the Kennedy Center is the view down the Mall toward the Capital Building. I would also think that it would be nice to enjoy your meal rather than sweat getting to your seats.

I agree with RandyK - the Ken Center has some nice resaturants and then you wouldn't have to worry as much about being late. Finish early and you can linger on the terrace watching planes land.
