Dinner after Sun. night show in NYC

Are theater district restaurants generally open late on Sunday nights? We are planning to eat after a 7 pm show (won't be able to eat before because we're squeezing in visit to MOMA). Seems like NYC shuts down early on Sundays.

One of my favorites, Chez Josephine, is now open on Sundays. Others in the theater district that serve late (according to Zagat) include Orso, Joe Allen's, Becco, Angus McIndoe, Lattanzi.

A great post-theater meal can be had at Cafe Luxembourg on the upper west side. It's a very short cab ride from most of the theaters and serves its bistro menu late.

"Seems like NYC shuts down early on Sundays"

Not true. Says who? All the places mentioned are good. You can also find lots of places elsewhere in the city if you want to eat nearer your hotel.

I also like Chez Josephine. You could try www.leverhouse.com to see how late The Lever House is open on Sunday. The restaurant is on Park Ave. in the 50's. Quite close if taking a cab.

Don't forget how impossible it is to GET a cab after a show in NY. I'd pick a restaurant within walking distance of the theater.

NYC does not "shut down early" on Sundays. NYC does not shut down -- particulary where food is concerned. Sure, some retailers close earlier on Sunday, but many museums are closed on Monday. Not everything in New York City can be open 24/7.
