DiningRoom @Met.Museum NYC
Has anyone dined at the Trustees Dining Room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC? Your "two cents" welcomed. I am bringing four nieces to NYC in November(too late for the roof garden) and thought that it might be a special place for dinner with a view of the park. Does it warrant purchasing a membership for this exclusive dining spot? <BR>

Not just any membership, but a certain level. (I can only go in the summer with mine!) It's a pleasant experience, but I'm not sure that it's worth spending that much for!

Hi Chloe, I titally agree with Howard; the Dining Room is nice, but . . . If you are looking for a special "museum" lunch, try the Morgan Library at 29 E 36th St. From the website: "Located in the Garden Court, the café serves light luncheon, afternoon tea, and light fare and drinks on Friday evenings." Here is the link: http://www.morganlibrary.org/visit/html/cafe.html <BR>

I wish you could get these post back to edit them! Sorry about the typos - I hit "post" before I proof-read. Also, I know you had inquired about dinner, but I thought this just might be another option.

Went for brunch recently. It's pretty stuffy - not very child friendly. Don't know how old your nieces are but we (late 20's) felt a bit out of place. Lots of grandmas and bored children in their best clothes. <BR>Really rushed service - waiters hovering with your second course while you're still on your first. You don't actually see a lot of the park, even if you're lucky enough to get one of the tables right near the window.<BR>The roof top is much more fun, and should be open till fall, weather permitting. Have a drink up there (Friday and Saturday nights), watch the sunset and all the city lights turn on. It's beautiful.

Thanks for all the input on the Trustee Dining Room , perhaps I'll consider another restaurant.
