Dining With The Corgis in Frogtown

Until recently I didn't know there was a place near me called Frogtown, however it is a section in Los Angeles that at one time was a gang hangout (and before that a huge frog hangout). But like so many other L.A. places, gentrification has changed the hood. We’ve now been a few times, because we were alerted by a friend to a restaurant, Spoke Bicycle Cafe, that serves a killer breakfast and lunch. It also serves one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I have ever tasted (the other located at Borough Market in London). The bread at Spoke is heavenly. Coincidentally, today also happens to be National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. Frankie and Remi both love Spoke, because it not only allows dogs, but they are now addicted to the delicious waffle fries here. It’s not the easiest place to find, but it’s well worth the effort to enjoy Spoke Bicycle Cafe!

It sounds great! Hopefully it doesn't get gentrified away.

maitaitom, I little history on Frogtown and how it got its name...

https://www.kcet.org/earth-focus/fro...adtown-instead

Growing up in Glendale, my neighborhood gang used to play in the L.A. River which evokes interesting reactions from people now. We'd bring home jars of river water teeming with tadpoles and, to my mother's dismay, paper bags holding lots of "baby frogs." Going as far as Frogtown was forbidden, but with a name like that what kid could resist?

If you like margaritas and Mexican food, try Salazar on Fletcher.

Completely O-T, but we are catching up on recordings of NCIS LA and the one we watched last night mentioned Frogtown. I knew what they were talking about!
