Dining suggestions on Oahu?
My fiance and I will only be spending 2 nights in Oahu on our honeymoon then off to Maui so where should we dine while there? Thanks!

Alan Wong's

About 20 years ago we had dinner at cool place called The Willows. Just read in Sunset Magazine that it is still there and still worth visiting.

Sammy Choy runs a great restaurant. Also Roy's and Alan Wong's, as mentioned. If you like fresh (really fresh, some of it even raw) seafood go to Todai.
|
The Hono hono room has the best view. I like Pyramids eventhough it is a tiny hole in the wall. If you look at the Honolulu Advertiser archives it has a link to the 150 best.

Alan Wong's is awesome.
Nick's Fishmarket is really good as well. John Dominis is an old favorite. If you like Japanese, try Kyo-Ya, Kobe Steakhouse, or Yanagi's. |
I wanted to add a few more. There is a new Italian place at Hilton Hawaiian Village with great atmosphere and food. It starts with an "S" something like Sergios. Then a place were all the well known people go is Arthur's at the top of the Ala Moana Hotel. A great view of the city and dancing. Also a place with no view but good food is Aaron's in Century Center.

Definately Alan Wongs..this is a MUST!
Also went to an incredible Japanese restaurant just a stone throw from the Royal Hawaiin, which was inside a hotel but had an exit to the street. The Concierge at the Royal Hawaiin was amazing in their recommendations! |
OH, the paper just had a new place. Kahala Mandarin Hotel now has private cabanas for dinner! Right on the beach and so romantic!

Ummm, ok couple of typos. Top of the Sheraton is the Hanohano Room. This is fab for dinner, but if you already have dinner plans see if you can get in for Saturday morning brunch. They have a live radio show (#1 rating in the country) broadcasting there on Saturday mornings, and it usually requires advanced reservations. It is a lot of fun, good food, and a great view!
Top of Ala Moana Hotel is Aaron's. The food & view there are also good. One of the bartenders there is an old-fashioned manly man, so his drinks pack a punch! I'm not a huge fan of Todai, although it is a lot of food for cheap. you can get some fab sushi at Sansei on Oahu or Maui, though. Another lovely brunch/lunch idea is the Hau Tree Lanai in the New Otani Hotel. Outdoor beachside dining is nice and not too hot! Last time my niece was in town we had lunch at Tiki's Bar & Grill in the Aston hotel located on 2570 Kalakaua Ave. While it SEEMED like it would be cheesy, the food was actually great and the prices reasonable. We took a seat on the lanai and I thought that was an experience tourists must really enjoy. Do a search on the board, we've posted a LOT on this subject already. |
Anyone been to Marbella yet?
