Dining in Yellowstone

We're spending two nights in the Old Faithful Snow Lodge the second week in June. What is the best restaraunt in the Old Faithful area? The Old Faithful Inn and Dining Room are closed for renovations. I know not to expect much, but we're not picky. Thanks

We enjoyed our dinner at the Yellowstone Lake Hotel. (We also liked the Roosevelt cookout but that's not near Old Faithful.)

The snow lodge has a decent food court, not fancy but OK. Its at least 30 to 40 minutes to the Lake hotel, but it would be a nice ride. Not many eateries within national parks. Depending on your plans, you could work dinner into visits to other lodges.

how long is the old faithful inn dining room going to be closed for?

I believe it opens June 26.

We spent 2 nights last Aug. in the Snow Lodge cabins and enjoyed one nights meal in the Snow Lodge dining rm. We got there by 6pm to avoid the crowds and our party of 9 had wonderful service and a very decent meal. Servings were on the large side and several of us had the same meal and agreed we could have split it. The other night we ate in their cafeteria and it was absolutley packed...food was as expected there...cafeteria! Try the Snow Lodge dining rm..it was FINE!

I agree with keymom about the Yellowstone Lake Hotel dining room. Food was good plus it had an "old world" feel to it, very relaxing.

The Lake Hotel has a very nice dining room and we think the food is fine; there's also a lovely glassed in lounge for your Grand Marnier after. (Other than that, you'll be eating, not dining, in Yellowstone if the OF rooms are being renovated.)

We just got back from a trip that included three nights at the Snow Lodge. We had dinner in the restaurant at the Snow Lodge (the Obsidian Dining Room) twice and at the cafeteria in the Old Faithful Lodge once. The meals at the Snow Lodge were very good and the service was excellent. As someone else mentioned, the cafeteria was like all the cafeterias in the parks. We, too, ate early as the dining room becomes crowded later in the day.

warobison,
Thanks for the info on the Snow Lodge dining. Would love to hear a quick trip report from you. We're headed to YNP this fall. Any tips or advice is appreciated.

Enjoyed your web site. We were in Alaska last summer, too, and we're going to Yellowstone and GTNP this fall. Thanks for sharing!
