dining in Vegas
 

I'm part of a group of women being treated to four days in Vegas by the boss. We're being given $25 -$30 a day for food. Comments and suggestions, please.

well I'd say that is not very much if you plan to eat 2 or 3 meals a day. I'd search out the bargain places or perhaps look to places serving big portions and share (Grand Lux @ Venetian). Where are you staying?

With all the really good restaurants I'd regard the money as a little bonus and expect to spend some money of my own and enjoy myself. Then I'd try to keep my mouth shut and not call my boss a cheapskate for "treating me" by giving me such a measly allowance for food. Instead I'd try to regard it as an attempt of a kind gesture.

Well, it will cost you more than that per day, but here is how you can stretch it. I know this will stir up controversy, but I am tough and can take the heat.

Go to the Paris buffet at 11:00 AM. It is fabulous. At that time, you will have about 1/2 hour left of breakfast, and they will then be putting out the lunch things. Go crazy and you won't have to eat again until dinner. And here is where the 'heat' comes in. Bring a baggie and sneak out with some of those amazingly good big cookies. And some fruit. That and a cup of coffee should tide you over for the 3:30 PM munchies.
Or, if you don't have my kind of nerve, bring some power bars with you.
Dinner specials are everywhere just to draw you into the casinos. Usually the food is not bad at all.
Or you could get really creative and pool the food money and upgrade your rooms to concierge floor rooms. You can eat all day for free if you do that. Usually they serve continental breakfast, midday snack, tea, and evening snacks. Free water, tea, coffee, etc.

If you're looking for nice restaurants, $25 a day might be tough. If you're staying at the Bellagio, you'll use about $6 of that for a coffee and danish.

As stated, you can view the $25 as a contribution and plan on spending some of your own money or you can find the more economical spots - like the buffetts.

You'd probably have to go off the strip, like downtown, and don't expect actual "dining." My sister recently discovered an off-strip buffet called Buffet Asia, and lunch is $6.50 per person. There's also so many places that offer stuff like 99 cent shrimp cocktail (Golden Gate) or $2.99 steak & eggs, or $7.99 prime rib (Plaza?). I've also heard good things about the hamburger place in the shopping area that bridges Mandalay with the Luxor, but I'm not sure how much that costs.
