Dining in Salt Lake City - I need help!
I just found out that I am being sent to Salt Lake City for a three day conference. There will be 6 attending and one of the things that I need to arrange are dining plans. Sometimes there will be all six and sometimes only two for dinner. This is a group that gets together several times a year and they all enjoy great food. They enjoy the 'best 'and also the' interesting'. Classy and comfortable is probably the best way to describe their dining habits. It doesn't always have to be the most expensive although we have a generous food allowance.
Everyone will be staying at the Radisson near the Convention Center...and as far as I know this is the first trip to Salt Lake City for all but one. Any good ideas would be appreciated. Thank you for your help loveyblue |
Bambara - in Hotel Monaco downtown
Trio Cafe - near downtown Ruth's Diner - Emmigration Canyon Log Haven - Mill Creek Canyon Red Rock Brewery - downtown Park City - Grappa - Main Street Happa Grill - Redstone Center at Kimball Jct. 350 Main - Main St. |
Dayle - Thank you so very much for your helpful replies. I will work on reservations from your list.

lovelyblue,
One other recommendation for the downtown SLC area is the Oasis Cafe. Very unique place with a large vegetarian menu, local art on the walls and a bookstore with an open patio for outdoor summer dining. They even roast their own coffee. |
Here's a thread that should have useful info, one I contributed ideas to:
http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...-lake-city.cfm Short answer: Red Iguana is an utter must for Mexican (especially mole), Crown Burger is amazingly good for above fast food level burgers (add pastrami and fry sauce to the burger), Takashi is great for sushi, Cafe Trang and La Cai are very good Pan-Asian (mostly Vietnamese) spots, and Acme Burger does a fine bar style burger. Settebello apparently makes excellent pizza, but didn't get there. |
Try Pago at 9th and 9th (SLC)--they specialize in local food and it is great!
Ems is a lovely place up on Capital Hill Just down the street from the Convention Center is Cafe Molise--good Italian and Cafe Martine (marvelous tapas) Canyon Dining that is a little closer--Log Haven in Millcreek Canyon--get a spot on the patio Ditto on all of Dayle's recs. Red Iguana is truly superb. The only problem is you will have to wait--no matter what time of day and they don't take reservations. They just opened up Red Iguana 2 down the street so maybe it is a little bit better. The same folks also run the Blue Iguana downtown near the convention center, but somehow it isn't the same. |
They have just opened a second Blue Iguana in Park City. It's across the street from the Kimball Arts Center. Haven't tried it yet, but probably will soon.

I second Bambara. It is a beautiful restaurant, great service and great food. When we visit Salt Lake City, we usually have dinner there at least twice.

Great news about the Blue Iguana in PC. Will be there for a week later this month. Thanks!

Thank you for so many great ideas. Now that we have returned home from spending the 4th at the lake I am going to get to work and set up some reservations.
I truly appreciate your help. loveyblue |
