dining in Old Sacramento
Looking for an upscale restaurant in Old Sacaramento. These three have been suggested: Biba,Waterboy, and Firehouse.
Any details on the above or other suggestions? TIA |
Well - first off only one of those is in Old Sacramento -- the Firehouse. The other two are 20 to 25 blocks away in what is generally called Mid Town.
Of the three the finest food is at Biba - probably the single highest rated restaurant in Sacramento and one of the best in No. Calif. But the other two are very also good. |
Biba is indeed excellent: wonderful northern Italian food, long-time waiters with style...we love the place. Waterboy is interesting for its menu and The Firehouse for its Old Sacramento atmosphere, although the food these days is apparently more of the California-cuisine style.
The Sacramento Bee quite recently published its guide to area restaurants; you could try searching for it. I have it somewhere but couldn't find it in a quick search--sorry. |
I think Mrs Kal and I are the only 2 people in NoCal who don't get Biba's.
:-? Nice place but there are some old and new ones giving them a run for their money. Lucca, Moxie's, Esquire Grill, Celestin's, Mikuni's to name a few. Old Town has Tunel 21, Vlade Divac's restaurant but it's always getting mixed reviews. Ditto Rio City Cafe. Nice views tho. The Fat's restaurant's in Old Town are still pretty good. |
For upscale in Old Sacramento, the Firehouse is the only choice. Biba's is certainly excellent, particularly if your in the mood for Italian. The Food Critic in the Sacramento Bee rates Biba's No. 1 and the Firehouse No. 2, so you can't go wrong at either.
