Dining in Ogunquit, Maine

I live in Portland, Maine but don't know Ogunquit at all since us locals don't go there that much. I will be there to see a show next weekend, however, and want to find a nice reasturant to go to. Any advice?

Fine Dining or Casual Lobster? My favorite in Ogunquit is Provence, which falls into "fine dining." More casual is Barnacle Billy's or Oarweed out on Perkins Cove. (Hurricane has closed, and I don't think the Arrows bistro is open in its place yet.)
Are you going to the playhouse? Which show? Have fun!

Always loved PROVENCE98 for french dining, lovely room and service....then there's 5'0 on Shore Rd, which is lively and wonderful.....recently on this board? I heard their chef left and opened Joshua's which with a google search will give you his place. Other than that, I heard the Hurricane closed and don't know if Arrows who is taking over the location...a fine dining place has opened it's satellite location on the waterfront in Perkins Cove. I would be happy eating at any of these places before the show. Have fun! We are way overdue for a couple of nights of sun and dining in Ogunquit!!

The new place in Perkins Cove, Ogunquit, is MC Perkins Cove; it was supposed to open in June, but I don't know when. It's owned by the same owner/chefs of Arrows; www.mcperkinscove.com. Can't imagine that it will be anything less than superb.

It's been a few years since I've been there, but I enjoyed my visits to Gypsy Sweethearts.

Thanks for the dining tips. Provence in particular sounds great. Portland has very good reasturants but little in the way of French. The show I am seeing is a one woman comedy show, ChristineOleary.com at the Booth Theater. I know her and she is very funny.

The best place to dine for dinners is Arrows. They are opening an American Bistro in the Hurricane spot in Perkins cove, After July th they will serve lunch as well as dinner. They haven't opened yet but will the end of th month.

Thanks for your advice, everyone. We had a perfectly spendid meal at 98Provence, even though it was a bit more leisurely than we would have liked. The food was perfect, however.

Thanks, Dreamer. We were not stressed at all. The show was at 6 and we ate afterwards. It was just a long drive home.
