I also liked Martini House a lot, but we did get seated next to an obnoxious party so it wasn't quiet. Tra Vigne was lovely for lunch! My friend's dad slurped up his plate, and he's a picky eater.
I know many people love Bouchon, but the one thing I didn't like was that everyone is packed like sardines. |
Tra Vigne was very noisy. The wait staff was pretty snooty and the food wasn't spectacular. A disapointment.

I vote for Domain Chandon- dinner or lunch- it is fabulous- a must do.

Meadowood on Silverado Trail outside St. Helena would be an excellent choice. I'm sure that if you let them know it was your anniversary they would treat you special. Agree that Tra Vigne, Martini House, or French Laundry would leave you lost in the crowd. Nothing wrong with them but Meadowood's restaurant is small enough that that isn't going to happen.

Wow--thanks for all of the responses! I appreciate everyone's input. Someone asked where we were staying--we are staying at Dante Vineyards at one of their 2 cottages. I was also concerned about the drive back after dinner, but I have read thru other posts on here about the Taxi Cabernet? That is always an option--would rather be safe than sorry after drinking--especially on roads that I'm not familiar with. We are looking forward to our trip very much--and there seems so much to do. We will be arriving on a Saturday and then leaving the following Saturday. We had also thought about taking a drive to the Sonoma Coast to Point Reyes one day. Any thoughts on that? Thanks again!!

I can recommend La Toque. Very nice dining experience, outstanding menu and wine list.
