Dining in Hilton Head?

We've been to Hilton Head several times but I'm always looking for new ideas for places to eat out and really fabulous dishes to try. We have small children 3&1/2 and 5 so we can't do anything too elegant.

Thanks!!

Havent been there in a few years but we always get the tourist guides available many places and read the menus, look for early bird specials, etc. Restaurants often change names or formats.

There are two excellent restaurants that I think are fairly kid-friendly. Hudson's and Red Fish. Both have casual-elegant atmospheres, meaning that both are very nice, but they won't kick you out if you have dressy shorts on.

I would have to vote for the traditional touristy places. The Crazy Crab in Harbor Town has lots of windows and activity to watch. Likewise the Oyster Factory is bright, has great water views and the service is fast moving enough to keep the kids from getting bored

Lots of good suggestions! We have actually made a tradition of going to Redfish the last night of our trip. They have a great kids menu - it has offerings other than just chicken fingers and mac&cheese, which is nice as our kids aren't picky eaters and like to try new things.

Any other thoughts? Any good places we can get fresh uncooked shrimp to grill at a reasonable price? I know the place dh usually gets them is good, but the prices are just as expensive as in Ohio. At least they are fresh in SC!!!

We've been going to HHI off and on since the early 80ies and always loved the food at Hudson's. However, it's been a few years since we've been there, and we're going with family group in a few weeks; have heard that Hudson's "isn't what it used to be." Any comments about that?
