Oh, I meant to say mine were in Maui.

On Maui, Hailiimaile General Store is wonderful. We also liked Tastings in Kihei. Small plates and interesting food. For good, simple fried fish and chips, try Alexander's in Kihei. Get it to go and take it across the street to the beach park.

Maui - lunch at Kimos or Hula Grill. Breakfast, lunch or dinner my hands down favorite is Longis (surprised it was not mentioned here). Cheeseburger in Paradise is a long wait for a tourist venue - but everyone needs to do it once. If you are lucky - you can chat with one of the ladies about the lawsuit with Jimmy Buffet on copywrite infridgment. Longis never has a menu, the staff tell you what they prepared for the day - breakfast is out of this world.

Forgot these in Maui:

Hailiimaile General Store
Pa'ia Fish Market

Both are very good. If we fly in around lunch time, we go to Pa'ia Fish Mkt straight from the airport for lunch. Then we drive down to Ho'okipa Beach to check out the great surfers and windsurfers.

There's a great little cafe in Pa'ia but I can't remember the name now...

I really like Gazebo in Napili for their banana-mac pancakes (plus the awesome views of Moloka'i). But it's a long drive from where you're staying and the wait for tables is so loooooong. It's getting worse. We waited 1.5 hours on a Wednesday when we were there in Feb. On the other hand, you wait outside, and a group of spinner dolphins came by twice, a bunch of whales breached right offshore, and there was a great rainbow over the Moloka'i channel.

But you can probably find better things to do on honeymoon mornings than waiting in line for an hour and half with 50 other people ;-)

I must 2nd kbob88's recommendations for Paia Fish Market (ate ate there on Tuesday, March 27th) and Haliimaille General Store(was there on Friday, March 30th). Both were outstanding.

We spent a fun time yesterday afternoon at The Rusty Harpoon in Whaler's Village. Watched the NCAA basketball tournament and sucked down happy hour Mai Tai's and cold beers. Also noticed that Leilani's just across the way had a good happy hour with live music.

If you are in Hana at breakfast time have the macadamia nut french toast at the Hana Ranch Restaurant take out window.

We also ate at Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina and it was ok. Nice location and they use the same kitchen as The Old Lahaina Luau which is right next door.

Any suggestions for breakfast? My parents are taking their kids and grandkids to the 4S BI, and my mother is flipping out because the breakfast buffet is $39/person.

But, it will be worth it. Really. It will.

We had one of the best meals during our trip at Seawatch. We went at sunset. Had wonderful views and the food was great. We also ate at the Pa'ia Fish Market a few times. Some of the best tacos I ever had. One night we had dinner at Spago. It was very nice, but we did not enjoy it as much as SeaWatch.

mom03: Your mom is flipping out b/c the buffet at the 4 Seasons is $39? What, she didn't notice the $450 rooms? :-)

Anyway, we usually just buy a bunch of papayas, bananas, and mangoes and sit out by the pool or the beach and eat breakfast.

One of the negatives about the 4S is its location. You'll have a 20 minute drive to get to less expensive breakfast options in Kailua, and 35-40 minutes to the ones in Waimea.

One option would be to eat at the Hapuna Beach Prince's buffet which costs $24/pp last time I was there.

We were just in Waikoloa and had the breakfast buffet at the 4S. It was $30pp if you didn't have the champagne. Thought it was good and beautiful watching the whales jump out in the ocean. Don't know if I would want to eat that much every morning and agree having some fruit and muffins in your room would be fine most days. I think if you only had the continental it was still cheaper.
