Dining and activities in OKC?

We will be travelling to OKC next week for 3 days for a horse auction, and will be staying close to the fairgrounds.

Can someone suggest some dining and activities for our trip? We have been to the Cowboy Museum and down to the stockyard (brickyard?) during a trip a few years back. We are definitely going to make time to go to the memorial this trip.

Anything else must see?

We will have a rental car, so we can drive out away from the area where we are staying as it did not appear to offer much in the way of fine dining. :)

Last time, we ate at Cattlemen's and were underwhelmed, but they were absolutely covered up busy. We also went to Chelino's and loved it.

We like a good wine list. A nice sushi place or somewhere they have good fish dishes would be great. Suggestions for lunch and dinner would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

If you haven't gone to the memorial, you really should.

As mentioned, we are planning to go to the memorial.

Any dining/activity ideas anyone?

Thanks!

Hi Diana,

For food:
Dinner at Red Rock on Lake Hefner is nice, especially if you can get there early to see the sunset. They have a nice outdoor fire pit around which to enjoy a cocktail. They have steaks, a nice rotisserie chicken, salmon etc. Wines are good and affordable. Located at the Britton Rd exit on the west side of Lake Hefner Parkway. Great Views!!

La Baguette - fantastic food and service with nice wines by the glass. Located on May Ave between Wilshire and NW 63rd St.

Metro: Nice wines and menu. On Western Ave just north of 63rd.

Sushi Neko: on Western Ave at 43rd. Very good sushi and wines. Place stays busy all the time. Love it!

Museum Cafe: Located in downtown area connected to the museum. Lunch or dinner. They have a nice tilapia with basil-pine nut butter sauce. Nice wines. Lunch or dinner and don't hesitate to make a reservation there -- can fill up very quickly. 235-6262

Michael's Grill: Fine dining. The BEST caesar salad. Period. Fish, steaks, etc. 810-9000. Reservations for dinner highly recommended.

Boulevard Restaurant. Located in Edmond which is north of OKC. A la carte fine dining$$$. Steaks and wine are their specialty. You'll pay dearly for the wine but he does have a nice selection even by the glass.
715-2333

Ranch Steakhouse. On Britton Rd at Lake Hefner Parkway ( on the other side of Lake Hefner Parkway from Red Rock at Lake Hefner). Steaks and wine with fish specials. Reservations recommended. 755-3501

Soleil & XO Lounge @ Colcord Hotel. Located downtown. New so still getting kinks out but should hit the lounge downstairs.

The Mantel in Bricktown. Steaks, wine. (don't confuse with Mickey Mantel's which is awful.)

Drinks: Flip's Wine Bar @ Western Ave just south of 63rd Street. Hoppin' place after work and weekend nights.

Lunch: 501 Cafe for casual deli items. Next to Boulevard Restaurant in Edmond on Blvd just south of 2nd St.

Museum Cafe: love it for lunch. Reservation is a good idea.

Cheever's Cafe: Hudson & 23rd outskirts of downtown area. Not our favorite but others still like it.

Nona's: Located in Bricktown. It gets hit or miss reviews but may be convenient for you.

Crabtown: in Bricktown. By the name I'm sure you can guess - seafood, cajun cooking. Dinner or Lunch here.

Things to do:

*Museum of Art - has Temples and Tombs from the British Museum of Art. This ends Nov 26th

*Memorial

*Myriad Botanical Garden & Crystal Bridge:

Hope that helps. If you want more info you can email me @ [email protected]
