Dine with Shamu at Sea World

How does one dress for dinner with Shamu? It seems Shamu is rather formal. Must I wear a tux?

Can he teach my kids some table manners?

Just perfect.<BR>As if living in a tiny tank being forced to perform silly tricks for a bunch of morons isn't enough, they've come up with a new way to torture poor Shamu.

Shamu and I share a common interest in eating sushi. Sounds like a fun dining experience.

When can I dine ON Shamu at Sea World?

There is no one Shamu. Or, that is, all the orcas are called Shamu. Dining with Shamu might be like dining with Osama - real or imposter? How disappointing it would be if you found out you were really dining with Doris, Shamu's spinster auntie.<BR><BR>

I live in SD, and we have done the breakfast buffet. It was very well done. The food was very good, hot and varied. The trainers talk about the whales and they 'pose' for pictures. I would think the dinner is good too, though I can't comment on the food.<BR>Have a wonderful vacation!

OH MY GOD<BR>This is one of the WORST things I have ever seen in my entire life.<BR>Heart Whales, I went and saw the picture. How totally disgusting, stupid (and no doubt expensive).<BR>The people at Sea World have stooped to a new low.<BR>Emily, you must live under a rock in Cat Scratch county somewhere.<BR>The breakfast buffet was &quot;very well done.&quot; Jeez Louise. I looked at the link provided above and it struck me that Americans have to eat whenever we do or see anything. Imagine if people actually had to go the full lenght of a whale show without eating? God only knows what would happen! How can you eat, presuming you must actually look at your plate to do so, AND watch the whales? Jeez are we de-evolving or what?

These 'xxx' people are so judgemental. I said it was well done, meaning breakfast was on china and silverware, which is uncommon at an 'amusement park', they brought fresh squeezed orange juice to your table, the coffee was very good, and the food was good also, and well displayed. We enjoyed it very much and so did our 2 year old. <BR>Live and live and if you don't have anything beneficial to contribute, ignore the post.

I guess that people who think this whole idea is outrageous don't like whales and would prefer to see them become extinct.<BR>It is programs like this that make new generations appreciate the whales and will actively strive to prevent their eradication. Why is that so hard to understand? No harm is coming to Shamu from doing this, but by educating and giving the masses an appreciation of the whales, future generations of whales may be that much stronger.

Apparently xxx, you and Emily both fell off the same cabbage truck recently.<BR>I don't recall reading that killer whales are in any way, shape or form endangered. <BR>It always amuses me when people swallow that &quot;education&quot; b.s. hook, line and sinker.<BR>Until Sea World is a not-for-profit enterprise, you cannot convince me that they have any interest in mind other than financial gain.<BR>The almighty $$$ wins again!

Judy,<BR><BR>There are two sides to every issue - and obviously some people on this board feel passionately about their side of this issue - but they haven't yet learned that name calling gets you nowhere. Please try to ignore the hurtful comments. This is an issue you should decide on for yourself. Hopefully, the coming registration will remove some of the name-calling on this board.<BR><BR>I did Lunch with Shamu when I was in Sea World several years ago. For me it was worth every penny. As is obvious from the picture, you get very close to the whales and learn much more than you learn during the normal Shamu show. The food is a buffet - and pretty good considering you are at Sea World and not a 4* restaurant.<BR><BR>If you have the money, I also recommend all of the behind the scenes tours at Sea World. I have done them all - you learn much more about the animals.

Gee, and here I was thinking that the $42 admission charge that I paid should have entitled me to all of the information about the animals. Next time I'll dip into my 401K to take those behind the scenes tours.
