narrowed it down to three...Yank sing, new asia and tom kiang...they all have their merits..considerations are Price, quality and ease of transportation..I will have a car ..so toms would be easy, can take the cable line over knob hill to within 4 blocks of YS ..new asia is a bit hard to get to but am definitely going to chinatown so would be convienint...will be getting there later than earlier ..can you give me you best descriptions?thanks

Gold Dragon is THE best.

I'v always felt that Yank Sing is just OK and overpriced. New Asia is very good as well as Golden Dragon. Not sure about Tom Kiang. You pretty much can't go wrong with any of the places in Chinatown.

I prefer Ton Kiang to Yank Sing.

Hi Hypatia,

That's Ton Kiang with an "n". But I like "Tom" Kiang - he would make a great character in a detective story set in the Richmond District of S.F.!

Anyway, I like T.K. a lot. I think their dim sum service is limited to weekends. It's very, very popular with the local Asian community. If you happen to hit Ton Kiang on a regular week night, it's also worth going to for its Hakka cuisine, which is different from the usual Cantonese or Hunan. Try the salt-baked chicken with three dipping sauces, also the shrimp in their shells cooked with lots of scallions.

oops sorry --Ton-_ anyway I will eliminate Yank sing and of the other three which is the most resonable???I heard if you dont get to Ton in the morning you will not get a seat...God dragon is in CT also??

Don't know about Gold Dragon. I have not been standing in line for Ton Kiang for a while, but if memory serves correct there is ALWAYS a line. For the best of reasons, of course! Be prepared for lots of families, kids, noise, impromptu mah johng games, etc. - it's part of the experience.
