This link was posted on a cat care forum by a woman from Germany who happened to see this web page and thought it would be worthwhile to spread the word to help this person track down the owner of these pictures that he'd rescued from a rusted digital camera found under water.

Be nice and top this now and then.

The person who went through the trouble of getting the pictures made and who set up the website doesn't know the owner of the photos. Nor does the person in Germany who decided to post this on a busy pet forum to help spread the word. Nor do I.

If you top it, maybe there's always a tiny chance that the person who lost his photos may happen to be browsing Fodors.

That's a very kind gesture; I hope these photos are seen by the camera owner or recognized by a close friend.

I was hoping that I would see someone I know, but no luck. what a generous person who is trying to find owners. Gives me hope that pictures of dropped cameras might be still good.

Wish such a website had been available years ago when the processors at local drugstore lost two rolls of film from my trip to England. They never turned up. I returned the pictures which came back in my envelope and hoped that they might find their owners rather than just being tossed, which I feared do to the bored attitude of the clerk who waited on me.

Just a couple of suggestions to help prevent this:

1) Label your camera with name, address, phone #.
2) Label your memory cards.
3) Take a photo of a paper with your name, etc., and keep it on the memory card.
4) Some cameras may allow you to put your name into the settings, which is then written into the EXIF data for the images. You may have to install some software from the manufacturer to do this. (I have my name and phone # in my Canon DSLR and P&S.)

irishface- been there, done that. :( It is so depressing to return someone else's pictures when they don't have the common decency to do the same.

In my case, pictures were of my 7 yr old daughter's birthday party. Nothing of national importance, but they meant something to me.

Out of curiosity I looked at that link, and it says that the camera's owner has been found. It only took eight days. Is the internet cool, or what?

Along the same lines as NeoPatrick, I wish whoever stole my camera film/negatives back in 1992 would return those to me. I've got pictures of Placido Domingo in that roll of film! (It was one of those 99p mail-in, film-developing service in the UK. I mailed it in and never got it back. :( )

Now, maybe somebody found my lost photos of a SF GTG when I accidentally exposed undeveloped film?

Faina, I'm confused. Are you saying you exposed yourself accidentally rather than on purpose?

Approximately, 18 years ago my DH took my DD to Disney World. I was expecting our son and my doctor suggested that I not go.

In any case, he lost a roll of film. I wrote Disney and they sent me a roll of film (pre-digital), but when I got them developed, they weren't mine. I've saved them thinking that eventually I might be able to figure out a way to get them back to the person that lost them. I think that day might be coming soon.
