Dan,

Great to hear you are ok. Amazing that even after I heard from all of my "real" friends who lived there, I was still worried about you. Fodors will do that to ya...

I've heard a lot of stories and know people who are slowly returning. My Westbank friends have been back for many weeks and find things are slowly returning to "normal" - the NEW normal, I guess. I have wanted to go for weeks but feel a little like I'm intruding. Though, as it is such a historical event, I hope to see it through my own eyes soon. I spotted pictures of my old apartment on Prytania on neworleans.com. There were a few of my neighbors, too, so I assume someone who posted must live around there. It seems all was fine.

I remember one rainy afternoon that everything flooded and I was stuck under the bridge for over an hour trying to get home. My friend said get to the port and I will get you clearance - you WILL be able to drive down there. Unfortunately, I couldn't get that far, but I'll always remember that the closer you get to the river, the better off you are.

I moved to Lafayette to be with my boyfriend as this is where his company is, but I so wish that I could move back to N.O. now more than ever to help re-establish a city I love so much. We have many years to see how things develop, but the strong will make a come back and I think better than ever.

Good luck with your work and your personal life. I am sure you miss that baby like crazy!

In spirit, at least, I remain a:

Bamakelly --
So glad you're back 'on board.' We haven't been to Huntsville yet -- you know how long this process takes!!! But we are coming this weekend and I'm planning to call Susan -- was going to use her info to reach you if you hadn't reappeared by the time we got home from our Eurovacation today. If you have a minute, please contact me at [email protected]. Thanks -- glad all's (mostly) well with you!
