since it's your first time in toronto hit all the big stuff firstly, don't be dismayed at the outskirts of toronto on your way in on the train (i've taken the train from sarnia to toronto five times) it is a beautiful city and sooo much fun! union station upon your arrival is an architectural gem. see the cn tower and have lunch in the revolving restaraunt at the top, also check out the science centre very educational but also alot of fun hands on stuff. walk by the lake on the promenade similar to that in chicago - there's usually all kinds of vendors and musicians. there's also flower venders on every other corner selling roses -very romantic! take the subway anywhere it is very clean and very safe. toronto also has trolley cars. eaton center across from your hotel i think is the largest mall in ontario great for shopping toronto also has a really cool china town great food and shopping. also dining is great in toronto all kinds of food - lots of restaurants by the lake and on piers, plenty to see do and explore. you'll probably find so much you want to do you'll have to plan a return trip. most of all toronto is fun, safe and clean, good luck and have a great time.

Lived in Birmingham MI until 1994 and would go to Toronto for weekends two or three times a year. We loved it all: window shopping in Hazleton Lanes in Yorkville, people watching at the Movenpick in Yorkville (excellent food, bistro atmosphere, always open); budget blowing brunch at the Four Season's in Yorkville, checking out the museums, the Pantages theatre is amazing, especially when you see that it was renovated and restored especially for Phantom and in a very short time. Walk down Queen Street and enjoy the Caribe atmosphere at Bamboo, and do Chinese at least once...great chinese restaurants. We used to pay extra for first class on the train which served a semi decent meal and had more room than coach. Be careful where you park, our car was towed once, just watch the signs carefully. I actually don't miss Detroit but I do miss Toronto. Sharon Punta Gorda, FL

We were in Toronto area two weeks ago, but we drove from Milwaukee. If you haven't been to Niagara Falls, I'd recommend taking the Maid of the Mist boat trip. It was great. You'd probably need to rent a car to get there unless you can find a tour bus trip. We had lunch at the Skylon, close to the falls. Great view and buffet was quite good.

Things to do during your 3-day stay:
1. Skydome - catch a Jays game or at least see it.
2. CN Tower - beside Skydome
3. Hockey Hall of Fame - great! (if you like hockey)
4. Centre Island - take ferry across and walk around
5. Eaton Centre/Hazelton Lanes - for shopping
6. Royal Ontario Museum
7. Bata Shoe Museum - interesting.
8. Queen Street Shopping
9. Try "Le Marche" - basement of BCE Place, for dinner. You'll enjoy it!

Marche' at BCE place is a restaurant I forgot in earlier post. Also part of Movenpick group (from Switzerland) and very unique restaurant concept. Lots of fun and not too many tourists, at least not when I went there some time ago as it was in the business district.

You must hit the duty free on the way to Windsor if you are arriving from the states. The price of booze and /or beer in Toronto is very expensive. Beware to give your self plenty of parking time at the rail station in Windsor. If at all possible scuttle the rail travel and take a car as the Delta Chelsea has a excellant parking facility. Driving also is much faster than rail, but do remember to fill with U.S. gas. Also save all your receipts on purchases, as on the way back you can apply to get some sales tax[GST] refunded to you. While staying at the Delta visit a croisant shop to your right as you exit front doors of Delta, I think it is called Croisant-Croisant, it will be on the corner. My favorite restaurant in Toronto is called Browns Bistro, Make sure you make reservations as they only have two sittings, ask the consier at the Delta. Have fun, Bob
