Detroit People Mover

Hi there,
Will be visiting Detroit next weekend and plan to attend a Lion's game. We are thinking about walking from our hotel (Crowne Plaza Riverfront on Washington) to the game and then taking the people mover back after the game. Some advice using the people mover would be appreciated. Here are my specific questions:

Is the people mover relatively safe during the day?

Is it moving clockwise these days?

Thinking about walking back to Greektown from the game, grabbing dinner and then catching the Greektown station people mover back to the Financial District station. I have read that the Greektown station is extremely hard to find. Third floor inside the casino? Any advice?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. We are looking forward to visiting Detroit.

The People Mover is a safe transportation option unless you drink too much and decide to jump on the tracks as someone did a few weeks ago. That is the only accident I have ever heard about on the People Mover. As with any system or this sort in any town, you need to use common sense.

Most of the stations are inside buildings. The Greektown station is in the same building as the Greektown Casino. Someone gave you the exact location on your other post.

I am not sure which way the People Mover travels. I believe that they switch it up on occasion. Ask at your hotel. I am sure that they will know the answer. The whole track is just short of 3 miles. I don't think that it takes more than 15-20 minutes to ride the full circuit. It is an interesting ride. You will see abandoned buildings and some of the rebirth.

I forgot one thing in my previous post. Make sure that you have quarters. The People Mover fare can be paid with tokens or quarters. I have never used a token so I am not sure where you purchase them. The fare is $.75 per person per ride.

Thank you for your advice. We rode the people mover and it was fun. We felt very safe and you are right, it is a short ride and a fun way to see the city. It is currently running clockwise.
