Destination Wedding Charleston
My niece is considering a destination wedding in Charleston (we live in Michigan) next June. There would be potentially 30+ people attending who would need accommodation, preferably near each other so we would plan group activities. We have looked at homes/condos and would even consider a hotel. The wedding would be at Island House on John's Island, but we would not have to be super close for accommodations. She is feeling overwhelmed with logistics and I am trying to help her. Any thoughts?

I can't speak to any condos on John's Island specifically. Does she want beach accomodatins? Folly has the Tides, and Kiawah has the Sanctuary, both hotels.
You might want to contact the ladies at Moble Marriage. They help with stuff like this all the time. http://www.mobilemarriage.com/ |
Thanks Sue, I passed the link on to my niece.

The link with the information about marriage licenses in SC was especially helpful!

Great. Have fun. Destination weddings can be challenging.

I'd encourage her to check annual temps for June. We were in Charleston in July a few years ago and it was 106! Even for someone who's lived in the hot, hot south for nearly my whole life, it was terribly hot and humid. Mercifully when we left there we flew directly to San Diego, where it was 68!

Thanks Susan, but it's booked and locked in for June 26. Not something that can be changed. So, I will PRAY for good weather for her.

Where will it be? Inquiring minds want to know!!
Do you have a list of things to do for your guests/attendees? When our son married away from our hometown and many of our friends were coming, I made a little book for guests with names of others attending and places of interest, etc. Just a thought. Hope all the planning is going well. Charleston is such a jewel. It will be fun fun fun. |
That time of year it will be hot and humid but not like it is in August. There may be pop up storms late in the afternoon so be prepared for that.

When my sis (my niece's mom) got married many years ago here in Michigan, she planned an outdoor August wedding. I was so worried about it and thought she was crazy, because it can be unbearably hot and humid here too at that time of year. Our weather is so unpredictable. Lo and behold, her day was one of the loveliest I can ever remember. Perfect temperature and white billowy clouds in a blue sky. So I have every reason to believe that June 26th will be a perfect day as well :-) in Charleston. It is going to be at the Island House. The couple has always loved Charleston and are very excited to be getting married there.
