Destination for 10 Year Anniversary?

Okay, it's almost a year away still, but I like to get ideas! We'd like to go somewhere we haven't been before and are leaning towards Santa Fe. We like outdoor activities, good food, art, and just experiencing new places. Planning to stay in the US so we can use a Delta companion ticket. Cities we've visited and enjoyed, but don't care to return for this trip since we'd like a new destination include New Orleans, San Francisco, Chicago, Savannah and Boston. We'd also like to be able to relax a bit. Any suggestions for a new place to experience?

Thanks!!

I vote for Santa Fe, especially if you have never been. It is a very special place and meets all of your interests. It would be more of a relaxed celebration than a large city which I think would be great.

I've always thought the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego would be a terrific spot to spend an anniversary - historic hotel, right on the beach, nice pool area, very reminiscent of a seaside resort from the past.

Asheville, North Carolina.

Sounds like Santa Fe is exactly what you are looking for. There are alot of museums, art galleries, great restaurants, hiking. We were there several years ago and stayed at the Water Street Inn. It was very nice at the time. You could eat breakfast with the other guests or have it delivered to your room or the porch. They also had a happy hour with New Mexican wines and beers and appetizers. We liked doing this before we headed off to dinner. Our favorite meal was at the Inn of Anasazi (I assume this is a nice place to stay, too). San Diego is also very nice but of course different from Santa Fe. There is plenty to do in San Diego or you can just relax on the beach.

You said the anniversary is about a year away. Santa Fe would be great except in July and August with highs in the 90's, but it does cool down at night. San Diego would get my vote!

Santa Fe would be great but I would probably stay in Taos.

Bermuda is beautiful, but only May through August.

Happy anniversary.

Snowrooster - this may be a stupid question but is your anniverary in August or some other month as that will really influence where I'd suggest.

Hey there! Congrats to you. We are celebrating our 10th in October and will be flying from our home in Seattle down to Sedona and the surrounding area. Have heard great things. But also, have to tell you, we love the Pacific NW where we live and think that several of our small islands (Orcas / San Juan) are most romantic.

Cerlaurie - Tell me ALL your thoughts on Water Street Inn - this is currently tops on my list of places to stay (I've researched visiting Santa Fe before).

Our anniversary is July 13th. I don't mind the heat and actually if the hot weather causes prices to drop, that would be ideal! We like to travel during the off season if we can to avoid the crowds and save money!!

What about Key West? It's a great walking town. It might be kind of hot, but it's a thought. I also love Santa Fe and you can't go wrong with that suggestion.

50 million people visit Orlando each year so that may be the best place to go. In order to minimize your costs, you could rent a house. We rented one a few times and then bought one. Go to www.the-diamond-on-the-island.com and see what you can get for 14 people at a cost of less than $2,000 per week or less than $300 per night for 4 master suites with king-size beds and two additional bedrooms with twin beds. And your own private screened in 14 x 30 pool.
