Destin - what airport?

What airport would you fly into to visit Destin?

Ft. Walton Beach or Pensacola.

You can also fly into Panama City which is sometimes cheaper than the other two.

Agreed. Ft. Walton is probably the closest, but it is a small airport.

Depending on the savings, it's also worth checking out Mobile, although it is longer drive to Destin.

I've flown into Ft Walton, Pensacola, and Panama City, and I'd recommend you stick with Panama City. More connections, more possibility of a non-stop depending on where your flight originates. Pensacola would be my second choice. Good luck.

I live in Panama city and I agree with the above post.

I actually think Fort Walton Regional(VPS) is the best choice if the prices are comparable. This airport is about 30 minutes from Destin and has great service from Delta and NW. I think Delta has a flight every hour from ATL and a couple from Cincinnati each day. NW flies to Memphis 4-6 times a day. Also they have Continental and US Air connection carriers.

The Fort Walton terminal building is brand new and very nice.

As far as Pensacola, it is a good 1-1/2 hour drive from Destin. I am not as familiar with Panama City, but do know the Fort Walton has a much higher passenger volume than Panama City.

They must of changed things at Panama City airport or moved it. Every time I have tried to fly from Atlanta-Destin and have tried to book at PC they were very expensive and non-direct. Ft. Walton for me has always worked best and the drive is far less.

Thanks for all the help. Now how about the best airline out of NY area. I am actually in CT so Hartford would be an option too. Looking for airline that is reasonable and as few stops as possible. Nothing fly's nonstop do they?

Orbitz is your friend. It can likely tell you what airlines fly there and the costs.
