I am looking at the Desert Hot Springs Hotel and Spa web site, and the prices are unbelievably low - $89 to $139. Anybody been there? Any comments/advices/warnings?<BR><BR>http://www.dhsspa.com/sparest.htm

What time of year are you looking at? It gets incredibly hot in the desert in the summer and rates go way, way down.

Desert Hot Springs is sort of one of the "step-child" cities of the Coachella Valley, i.e. not really one of the prime resort destinations. The city is in bankruptcy and has numerous problems. Not to say there aren't a couple nice resorts there oriented toward the natural hot springs. But outside of the resort itself, don't expect much resort infrastructure, like restaurants, entertainment, etc. DHS also has the propensity to be very windy.

WHEN is the decider. Every resort in the desert will have REALLY low rates from May to September. A $300 per night resort may only charge $85 or $90 in July or August.

Thank you all, I've been thinking of Oct-Nov... guess the prices will go up then. I'll wait till the rates go up not to get baked.
