Denver-Where to stay?

We are going to Denver 9/15 and all hotels in downtown area are sold out for the electronics convention (figured that out since my last post). Any hotel suggestions in nice areas OUTSIDE of downtown Denver where we can stay and still be close to downtown? JW Marriott in Cherry Creek is way too expensive! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Omni Interlocken - Between Boulder and Denver, only about a 30 minute drive into downtown. Great mountain views, near shopping, and a quick drive into Boulder too.

I think there is a also a Marriott out that way as well, check Westminster or Broomfield. It is on Church Ranch Blvd/104th St.

You could do the Tech Center area south of downtown, but I think the northwest location is great for the proximity to the mountains, Boulder and good shopping/dining.

Many hotels around the Broomfield/Interlocken area.

Tech Center is a good suggestion. It will be about a 15 minute drive in, if traffic cooperates. There's a Loew's on Colorado Blvd. Look on HOtwire or Priceline for Tech Center places. A lot have efficiencies and are very cheap over week-ends.

We love the Omni Interlocken and stay there several times a year. Brand new expanded spa, destination restaurant and free champagne when you check in. If traffic is 'normal,' we can make it to downtown in 20-25 minutes. The Omni has a shuttle to one of my favorite malls--Flatiron Crossing.

Very near to the Omni is the Marriott Renaissance. It's a beautiful hotel but we prefer the Omni. You really couldn't go wrong with either. Fairly nearby is a Westin. I haven't stayed there but hear good reports from others who have.

It will take you longer than that from hotels at the Tech Center.

Loews is a nice hotel in a very blah area, just feet away from busy Colorado Blvd. On the other hand, it IS within close driving distance to Cherry Creek shopping.

I'll 3rd the Omni Interlocken...great surrounds and relatively easy drive to both downtown Denver and Boulder.

Thanks for all the suggestions! The Omni is not cheap, but it looks gorgeous. Hopefully these hotels won't be sold out as well.

Have you tried the Ramada inn downtown. By booking through Hotels.com you sometimes can still get a room although the hotel informed you that the're full.Paul

Gail, Try priceline or hotwire. We have bid and won Omni at about $80 a few times. It is the only resort property in Broomfield, so you know what you are bidding on. Good luck!
