Denver suggestions?
Any suggestions for restaurants in downtown Denver? Going in August for the Convention -- looking for a few restaurants with a varied wine list (and or microbrews) and good food. Would love a 30-something atmosphere that's not too stuffy but definitely keeps its focus on the menu. Thanks!!

For wines - there are 2 places side by side - LaFondue and Gallagher's Steak House, at 15th and Arapahoe; both within walking distance of the Pepsi Center and the convention center.
For microbrews, there is RockBottom Brewery on the 16th St Mall, but that probably will be a hot spot because of its location. Try Mayor Hickenloopers place - The Wynkoop Brewery on 18th and Wynkoop, or the Breckenridge Brewery over by Coors Field. |
erinp, I hope that you don't mind if I tag on your question. There may be an overlap with what I am looking for.
I will be at a different Denver convention earlier in the month. Looking for interesting non-chain restaurants within walking distance of the convention center and Sheraton. Bonus points for ethnic food! Thanks |
Within walking distance - is India House (15th and Blake St); their naan bread is sooo good as is chai tea; crab, chicken, lamb and vegetarian dishes offered.
See www.indiahouse.us Two personal favorites are Rioja and Bistro Vendome - both located in Larimer Square (14th and 15th on Larimer) Rioja is award winning, with a female cast of talent (at both restaurants). Wonderful pasta, crab sandwich and tomato parmasen soup. Bistro Vendome is French, intimate and a great patio for weekend brunch - it is wonderful. see www. bistro vendome . com |
erinp ~ A Heads Up ~ I learned today, that Mayor Hickenlooper will be co-hosting a party the night of Aug 25th at Wynkoop Brewery; I would imagine it is not open to us common folk...
anyone looking to eat in Denver the week of the convention may run into similar 'parties'. |
