maureenb - your kids are living my dream of the moment. i used to live in leadville and when I70 was shut down was always great fun!!! but as you said, not always deserted slopes cause the ppl who were there can't get out any more easily than new ppl can get there.
could your dh build some bumps in the neighborhood to ski?

Virginia, he could, but he's actually home recovering from getting flattened on the slopes last weekend by an out of control skier. My DH was hit from the back, full force, and now has rotator cuff and rib problems to deal with. Maybe surgically. Jeez.

I25 is open now.
With the airlines, it is not just a question of getting from point A to point B. That plane may go on to Alaska and back to Boise. And all the flight crews have to fit into various segments. Planes are just totally out of "line" all over the country. It is a worst nightmare!!
Plus, planes have been routinely running at 80% capacity and in prime business times, near 100%, so there just isn't much room to fill in with these travellers.
The ideal person's flight is the first ones that leave Denver or for Denver that has a reservation ON THAT flight--those reservations will be honored first and no one bumped.

Two runways at DIA a supposed to be open at noon today. But operations will be slow at first--and with rain in Chicago and Atlanta, this will probably be another horror of a travel day. I feel so sorry for all those who are trying to get to relatives' houses for Christmas or to a tropical spot for a holiday vacation.
My husband's parents managed to get to Colorado from Arkansas yesterday--with only a two hour delay. They flew thru DFW to Colorado Springs. They had wanted to fly non-stop to Denver, but by the time they were looking for tickets, it was sooooo expensive, so they opted from the one-stop to the Springs--which now in hind sight was a wonderful decision.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for my United flight to denver at 7:30 am from DFW..

What would be a better way if it gets cancelled? Colorado Springs?

danny9948 Dec 22nd, 2006 08:53 AM

Danny, you should be fine--and lucky. It may be delayed/late, but you are on it. I seriously doubt you could change to anything else.
