Denver Restaurants?-Buckhorn Exchange

WIll be in Denver for just 1 Friday night and thinking of trying the Buckhorn Exchange for an authentic CO experience.
Has anyone dined her lately? It looks kind of expensive, but maybe worth it? I was there years ago, but not sure if it's still the same? Or should we just splurge and go for Mizuna? It's getting great reviews! I know the 2 are completely different dining experiences but would appreciate your feedbacks. Thanks..

We have one set of friends that always want to go to the Buckhorn - so we go with them. The food is very good - I don't eat much game stuff... but the menu is quite interesting if you do. There are animal heads everywhere (again, not my thing but it's different). And there is often some old country and western singers in the bar upstairs. It's not the best area - and the last time I was there people were breaking into cars in the parking lot... I don't think of it as typical Colorado - but perhaps the typical Colorado sterotype.

I'm not familar with Buckhorn, but we just ate at Mizuna's last weekend and I think the food at Luca's, around the corner from Mizuna, is just as good and less expensive. Our bill at Mizuna was over $120 which included two entrees, two desserts and two glasses of wine. Over-priced IMO.

If you want atmosphere and quality fish, beef, and game, the Fort is great.
Just a short drive to Morrison.

I agree with The Fort, for a pretty Colorado setting and some views on the drive up and down. Buckhorn Exchange is in a dicey neighborhood. Or go to The Chart House, for views, too. In town, I'd stick to LoDo, maybe go to The Chophouse for old Denver atmosphere.
