Denver Questions- Summertime/family visit

Will be there at the end of June for the White Sox and am trying to research for other issues.

Looking at family resort or dude ranch or rafting optioins and am flabber-ghasted at the prices.

Any knowledge here of Denver area outdoor options in water etc. that do not cost more than a trip to Europe?

I'd like to take some of the grandkids but it doesn't look good.

We are more interested in 3 day stays at the most, and moving around is an option both before and after the last 3 days of June, which would be in Denver itself.

The one week inclusives are way beyond the budget.

Sorry to hear things are really expensive. Probably the best-priced places are the Y facilities. One in Rocky Mountain National Park, and one in Grand County. We are very familiar with the latter, Snow Mountain Ranch. Problem is, they fill up months in advance. But check them to see.

In Winter Park, we are familiar with Red Tail Rafting, and they do a great job. For lodging in Winter Park, you could probably find a reasonable condo complex. Ask Destinations West what they have. They specialize in the nicer properties.

For guest ranches in that region, Devil's Thumb Ranch is awesome, but quite pricey, I think. There's also the C Lazy U ranch, near Granby.

Be aware that the end of June in the Rockies can still be cold. Even snow is not impossible.

The YMCA of the Rockies is the perfect location. Lots of lodging options and the Y and the town of Estes Park are wonderful. Rocky Mountain National Park is gorgeous.

THanks, SO MUCH for the rec's. That's exactly what I needed to know. I'll get busy on the YMCA of the Rockies as fast as I can. If it is cold, that's ok.

I stayed there with a group and loved it. Perfect location and lots of things to do. If they are booked, check into hotels in Estes Park. The Y specializes in family reunions, group events, family vacations, etc so they will have something for your family group whether it's 5 to 50.

But they fill up really quickly too. Good idea to get on it.
