Denver itinerary feedback
 

Hello,

I'll be in Denver August 20-22nd. I have most of my planning set, but I'd love some help filling in the gaps. Main things I don't have that I usually like are a nice bar or tall building with a good view (although I will have Grand Hyatt lounge access) and a good gay bar. Main interests include art museums and parks/gardens.

I arrive 7:45 am Saturday. Trying to decide about how to get to Grand Hyatt. Maybe Train from airport and then walk? Bus seems a bit of a hassle.

Saturday:

Uber to Botanical Gardens. Lunch in sandwich place there.
Byers Evans House
Molly Brown House
Cathedral of Immaculate Conception - just pop in quickly
Dinner Osteria Marco
Walk around Larimer Square/16th Street Mall

Question: Are both houses needed?

Sunday
Denver Art Museum
Clyford Still Museum
Lunch Osteria Marco. Just so many good things I want to try that I'll need multiple visits!
City of Cuernavaca park? Or something else?
Is Union Station worth seeing?
Gay Bar? Charlie's or X Bar?

Happy hours Osteria Marco and Jax before heading out to airport.for 7:30 flight.
Seems like I'll have some dead time Monday, too, but I can wonder around the park/State Capital area and maybe relax in hotel.

While at the Denver Art museum, have a beautiful lunch at Pallettes, their restaurant. The museum is certainly worth more than the 15 minutes you seem to have allotted. lol

But it is fairly easy. The G Hyatt is at 17th and Walton. About twelve blocks from Union Station - that would be a long walk. The train from the airport is $9 and dead ends at Union Station. The main entrance of Union S faces 17th street. If you walk one block west (your right) to 16th Street Mall there is a free bus that runs the length of 16th street. The bus stops are every cross street and the streets are clearly announced prior to the stop and there are posted maps inside each bus. Get off at Walton and walk back to 17th. The hotel is pretty obvious.

Since Art museum opens at 10am on Sunday, I am not sure how you would do both the museum, Clyford, and lunch on Sunday morning. Both are good for half a day. Skip the City of Cuernavaca park. Not sure what your attraction for the park is?

Union Station is worth seeing since it has been restored. It is mostly restaurants. It is becoming the hub for that area.

I think there are better restaurants than Jax but you may have other reasons for that selections.

One of the great views was the Petroleum Club bar next to the Hyatt. I think that area is now a part of Hyatt but don't know if open to the public. It has been about five since I was there.

You program is pretty packed.

I have about 2-3 hours planned for Denver Art Museum and 1 for Clyford, which is what was recommended by another travel publication. But, good point, I can always spend more time there and then have lunch at the Art Museum too.

I want to try the Jax happy hour is all. Maybe Kitchen instead?

I think Sunday and Monday now seem pretty doable. Is Saturday too squished? I figure about an hour at each of the houses and 2-3 at the gardens plus lunch>

No additional input, but I think Acorn is great! I went with four other people last year when I was in Denver for a wedding. We loved everything we tried on the menu.

I would also branch out from Osteria as your only (almost) restaurant--lots of good food in Denver. Fruition comes to mind immediately.
Fun things to explore up in the Highlands neighborhood.

No car, so looking to stay close. That's an interesting option. Brider and Linger also sound interesting. Both are just a little too far. Taking Uber to Acorn, though ...

I'm just dying to try so many things at Osteria, but I see the point ...

If I had to choose between Byers Evans and Molly Brown, what would one pick?

I would take Molly Brown because of the legacy of Molly Brown.
