Denver hotel -- Luna or Teatro?
 

Girls weekend in Denver, have reservations at both and price is comparable. Want to be pampered, and both locations are good. Teatro is a known (in a good way) quantity, anyone know anything about the new Luna Hotel?

I've only stepped into the lobby of the Luna but can give you my first impressions. The Luna is going for the ultra hip 20-30 something market. The hotel is small, kinda boutique-like. Lobby very small. Both hotels are near restaurants galore but the Teatro is closer to the performing arts center if you're going to a show.

It it was my decision I'd go with the Teatro but then again, I'm 40-something and love the Teatro. What all are you doing on your girls' weekend? Love those! My friends and I try to schedule one or two in Denver every year--think it's about time again!

What about Hotel Monaco?

Tess, we're 30 something, but not particularly hip. Going to the Denver parade of homes, shopping at Flatiron, eating, etc...
Anyone else for Luna input? The crepe breakfast and coffee is quite tempting.

Sounds like a fun fun trip. We have friends who just went to Denver's Parade of Homes and said it was fabulous. If you want to break the trip up a little bit, you might want to stay at the Omni Interlocken one night. It's directly across from Flatiron Mall and one of my all time favorite hotels. It has a golf course attached plus a wonderful pool area. If you arrive on a Friday, they greet you in the lobby with free champagne...ah bliss.

The Renaissance Suites at Flatiron is very nice too, but I'd still opt for downtown. How about The Oxford? Their Victorian Deluxe rooms are wonderful! Don't know much about the Luna, but the crepes are good.

Best feature of the Luna Hotel, IMO, is the SMOKE FREE bar there, a rarity in Denver. :)

I would think you might like Hotel Teatro or Hotel Monaco more than Luna. One night I was downtown and I thought it was just a new bar because the street level restaurant/bar was packed and pretty loud glowing in it's neon blue lights. It just looks like something you would see in LA (not that I'm saying that's bad, just not my style).

The Parade of Homes was alright, the last couple of years we have been slightly disappointed with the actual homes but it's still nice and we had free tickets. Our favorite home, which won a ton of awards this year, was the John Laing home called Eureka! It's a Colorado MineShaft inspired home with fantastic building materials and some of the best outdoor living space I've ever seen in person!

Next year the Parade will be at Pradera, in Parker but closer to Castle Rock. We almost built a home there but decided it was a little too far out. I'd expect the homes at Pradera will be more like the Multi-Million dollar homes at the Daniels Gate Parade a couple of years ago. Anyways, have fun and wear comfortable shoes!

I, too, would go with the Teatro. While they call them "roomy" I found the standard rooms at the Luna to be more "European" sized (read: small). I also found the hotel's common areas to be rather dark and uncomfortable.

Not that the Teatro's rooms are huge, mind you. It's just that they're, IMHO, better appointed with nicer amenities. I also think the Teatro is an all around nicer hotel with better service. Both are in locations that offer much in the way of food and entertainment (they're not that far apart).

See if you can score a ninth floor corner room (mini-suite) at the Teatro. The ninth floor rooms have a balcony offering views of the city, mountains or both. The "view" room at the Luna, looked out on an alley.

Rooms at the Hotel Monaco are nice-sized, too. No views, though a nice hotel.

How about the Magnolia? I was there last winter and did not stay at the hotel, but went to "Harry's" lounge and it was really fun! The hotel itself looked trendy and modern, but maybe not quite as "clubby" as Luna.

I would also toss in my vote for Hotel Monaco - which is where I did stay. Nice decor, with a small and intimate feeling. Friendly staff, and there's an Aveda spa on site...you did say you wanted to be pampered!!! Also, you can't help but love a hotel who has such a cute little dog as it's hotel "mascot" to meet and greet you.

Also, the Monaco has a nightly wine reception...another great way to get spoiled for a weekend.

Even though it's on the east side of town, the Hotel Monaco is also a nice hotel. The Kimpton Group does a good jod and the restaurant there (Panzanos) is a very good Italian restaurant run by a top-notch, nationally renowned chef.
