Denver/Boulder accomodations
 

We are looking for a hotel to stay in for one night. We arrive in Denver at 7:00 pm friday night, need a hotel that evening, hope to tour around Boulder Saturday day before driving to Breckenridge to check in for our timeshare that evening. We were thinking about picking up our car and driving that evening to Westminster for the night but am unsure of driving conditions at night in mid-April. Is the distance anything to be worried about? Babs

Why Westminster? Nothing really there. Why not stay in Boulder. Look at the boulderado. Should not have trouble driving. One can only hope for a big snow storm that would close the highways!

Agree with Coskier, Westminster is just suburbia. <BR><BR>Why not drive to Boulder after you arrive? It should take less than hour, and as far as snow goes, Denver is experiencing a major drought this winter and there is no snow anywhere nearby except in the mountains.<BR><BR>Boulder also has strict smoke free policies in their bars and restaurants, a welcome break from livelier but smokier Denver.

Although I have lived in Boulder for past 35 years and like it very much, I would not necessarily recommend visiting for one day before going on to Breckinridge. If your flight arrives at 7:00 it will likely be after 9:00 by the time you get to Boulder. You could spend a few hours the next day walking around town but then you have a longer to Breckinridge than you would from Denver. Boulder is nice but unless you have a compelling reason to see it I would suggest getting a hotel in downtown Denver - somewhere along the 16th street mall near LoDo. You would get there much faster from the airport and it is a straight shot to Breckenridge on I-70 the next day. Forget Westminster.

Thank you for the advise regarding not driving to boulder the evening we arrive. Maybe we were trying to cover too much ground. We are planning one day during the week for our daughter to preview the college in Boulder. That one day will just have to be enough. Any suggestions for a hotel right by the airport in Denver. We love starwood and/or marriott's because we use their points. Thanks again!
