Denver

My husband and I are planning a trip to Denver in a couple of weeks. We'll be in Denver for three days and the only definite we have planned is a football game. Any suggestions on things to do in Denver? Should we plan a side trip to Rocky Mountain National Park? Any comments about Hotel Teatro?

Hotel Teatro is Great-they have a wonderful restaurant and a very atmospheric bar/lounge as well. Definately make it into RMNP!

Defintely plan a night out on the town in "Lo-Do" (Pronounced Low-Dough--short for Lower Downtown). It's an area of fun bars and restaurants that was revived in the last ten years when they built the baseball stadium--very fun and a lot to do! I would DEFINITELY make it into the mountains for a day. If not RMNP (which is great, but over an hours drive), at least go into the front range and take the Georgetown train and have lunch in Idaho Springs.

I also definitely recommend Rocky Mountain National Park. It is amazing! You've gotten some good advice on here... definitely go to Lo-Do.

Some other cool places I went to was Red Rocks (I believe that's what it's called?) and also to an area in the mountains that had a lot of casinos. I could find out specifically where it is and the name of it if you like. (I have a hard time remembering names of places in Denver since my friend lives there and planned it all for me).

Have fun! I was really impressed with Denver. :)

The Park would be a really really nice day trip out of Denver--it is an easy drive up. You could even drive all the way through the Park and drive back down the other side to Breckenridge and then back to Denver on I70. A neat place for a drink is the Cruise Room of the Oxford Hotel--and art deco room with great martinis. Denver has an excellent art museum and botanical garden. World class shopping at Cherry Creek mall and the area surrounding it.Denver is neat town.

Did anyone see the news, the Hwy between Echo Lake and the Summit of Mt. Evans just west of Denver is closed due to ice and snow? Winter's coming early, folks.

Chain laws on Vail pass - with snow flurries to 6000 feet.... But it's fall to me when the elk bugle. I woke to the sound this Saturday....
