BayouGal you are correct. BQ ALWAYS gives great advice. I finally booked for 7/1 FishCreek at 6:30am. A good compromise with my husband. (I had a knee replacement and am still in PT. Hiking is not in the cards for me just yet although it was a good thought.) He stated that if the weather is good we could go on a 'copter ride if available. Maybe we'll meet some posters on the bus.
Thanks to all. Gwen ps Denali Lakview Inn landlady Emily is from MN also and during our discussion I found out that her sister married someone from my hometown. Very small world. |
So where is Fish Creek? I worked in Denali in 1971 and lived in Alaska through the 70's and I realize things have changed since then, but I do not recognize this point in the park. Savage River, Sanctuary, Toklat River, Polychrome Pass, etc., yes---but where is Fish Creek in relation to these? And how could anyplace have a view of Denali (The Mountain) as wonderful as Wonder Lake?

Eielson closed last year which was mile 66, Fish Creek is mile 63, a "permanent" tent set up, nice exhibits, helpful staff etc. Totally temporary until the new Eielson visitor center opens in a couple years.

Thanks---it all makes sense now! So the Denali view is also spectacular from there.

There is NO McKinley view from Fish Creek if that is your above reference???
