Delta award mileage requirements increasing on March 16, 2004

Some major changes mostly to First/Biz class but they also bumped economy/first class to Hawaii up to 30,000/75,000 respectively.

Hawaii is being bumped up to 35,000 for coach or 75,000 for first class. That's a 5,000 mile increase for coach and a 15,000 mile increase for 1st class.

Delta will do whatever it takes to lose business.

I am really glad that I have booked my five tickets to Hawaii on Delta. That would have put a crimp in the trip!

I believe U.S. to Europe in business class did go up to 90,000 from 80,000. Yet first class stayed at 100,000 go figure.

Topping as a reminder, especially for anyone planning to use their miles for FC to Hawaii.

It seems in my opinion that they tend to avantage their business flyers...
As we have to organize ourselves one year in advance for our vacations(we are a group of oncolog in France), I try
to get my flight tickets very early(and for some USA destination like dude ranch, better to make a precoce reservation...).So, with this I have sometimes and it was the xase in february " U" tickets...a very good fare...But those tickets have
given us only the "half" distance in
medallion qualificating miles...
So with an U tickets there is only
2000 miles from Paris to NY...I've not had this impression during the flight...
I'm frequent flyer, silver or gold medallion since 8 years, but with 8
travels last year between France/USA I've got my silver elite with difficulry, arriving only at a total of
41000 miles( norm is 40000...).
So, I imagine myself changing company because it's becoming harder and harder
to get the medallion and the adavantages are equally harder and harder...

Delta is leading a "race to the bottom" with Continental in diminishing the value of flying on "discounted" and "deeply discounted" fares. Northwest has hung tough and continues to give full qualification credit. Award availability gets plenty of complaints for all three. For people who do much flying within the U.S. and Canada, it's hard to beat Northwest's free, unlimited complimentary upgrades for elite members flying on any fare class. Other programs have their strengths and weaknesses, but there is little doubt that it doesn't take much to beat Delta's FF program these days.
