Delray Beach Seafood Restaurant.
Can you please recommend a reasonably priced seafood restaurant in or near Delray Beach, FL?
Thank you |
Very difficult. Most seafood in this area is way overpriced, equivalent to NYC pricing unless you want farmed low quality fish. Even the fish markets are priced as high or higher than Manhattan....I bought swordfish yesterday for $26.99 a pound. There is a place that looks promising but I have not tried:
J&J Seafood Bar and Grill - Home When I have to go to Delray, I eat at 50Ocean; good but high prices. http://www.50ocean.com/our-menu/ Also look at Greek places in the area for fish at a decent price. Try Kyma in Boca, or Trela in Delray. Wide menus--good food. Those might be your best bet for fish although Trela will not filet the whole fish for you...you have to do that yourself. They have belly dancers (?!) Taverna Trela - Greek, Seafood, and Sushi in Delray Beach, FL Bamboo Fire is a West Indian place with a cult following. I was not happy with my sole dinner there, but you might check it out..family owned, scattered service; they have some fish: https://www.thepalmbeaches.com/blogs...mboo-fire-café |
Thank you Eks, I always appreciate your recommendations. We looked at J and J but chose Oyster City. The hours are better and we are going with a couple of fussy eaters. I agree that prices seem surprisingly high for FL.
We've only been to Greece once but the time the belly dancers were on strike. I am sure you have been to Pylos near Tompkins Square Park. BTW, we had an excellent Vietnamese meal at Madame Vo on East 10th off 2nd. And if you havn't tried Chicklicious (I know a stupid name) it is quite good. |
