Delano or National in South Beach?
After getting advice from many of you on an upcoming South Beach bachelor party (8 guys, mid-30s), we've narrowed it down to the National or the Delano. Cost differences are a wash. Any recommendations or advice? Thanks.

And the Ritz-Carlton is now in play too. Rooms are actually cheapest there.

I thought the Delano was interesting but pretentious. don't see a bachelor party there after visiting in late July of this year. I'd do the Ritz or Loews personally.
|
also keep in mind that while the delano is fairly close to the Lincoln Ave area for restaurants/bars, its a cab ride to the other hot area further south.

I stayed at the Loews and really enjoyed it - it's not really a "party" hotel, but it has a great pool and beach. Great location. I went out to the Delano a couple of times while in South Beach - VERY cool spot. For a bachelor party, I would definitely recommend staying there. All you need to do is walk downstairs and you're in the middle of the action. They have an awesome bar/club/lounge downstairs. Depends on what you're looking for, but again for a bachelor party, I'd prefer the Delano....

Delano. Delano. Delano.

The Delano hands down.
I've spent many an afternoon at the Delano Pool drinking away my stepchildren's college tuition (mojitos) and have never found it pretentious. I will say about six years ago it was quite obnoxious there but no longer. You'll have a blast there and if any celebs are in town, they will be hanging out at the Delano pool. Also, brush up on pro athlete recognition. You'll see lots of that. Tip: make good freinds with the concierge at the Delano. They (there are more than one) are probably the most well conected on the beach. The Delano has excellent service and their staff is outstanding. Mansion is a hot club along with Rok Bar. |
