Del Mar Ca area restaurants
 

Am staying 6 nights at the Del Mar Doubletree. Am returning to Jake's and Oceanside Ruby's and am going for lunch at George's, and now am looking for casual dining in the area--good food ($10-12 entrees) with maybe a view or neat atmosphere but not a white tablecloth in sight. Chains are fine, too. I prefer that it have booths available, as I have a disabled 7 year old who functions better in a booth. Any recommendations would be appreciated or a link to all restaurants in area (not just the frau frau ones) would also help. Thanks.

I am a big fan of Bully's Del Mar..
Heart of town and great food and the best Bully Burger.. they have booths and it is tradition..

Also, the Brigantine.com is great and they have a wonderful Happy hour in the lounge for all ages..Best fish tacos for $2.75 and calamari and great Marg's!
Sandwiches for the beach would be Board and Brew on Camino Del Mar..Yum!
The Posedian Restaurant next to Jake's is good and how can you not beat a oceanfront restaurant..

Best Chile Relleno's and Chicken Burrito's.. they have lots of booths..
I forgot that you are across from Tio Leo's which is great Mex and has alot of booths and it is across from your Hotel..
Roberto's Solana Beach and the Del Mar locations are the best in town for a taco shop.

Finally, the rooftop outfit of Il Fornaio in the charming small shopping center right in the center of the village serves nice and relaible Italian food.

I like Bully's too, and it's good food in a casual setting. :-)

Corvette Diner has some booths, lotta fun for all ages, burgers and fries and shakes and other stuff, 50's atmosphere, in San Diego, Hillcrest area near downtown. In your price range.

Sammy's Woodfired Pizza in La Jolla, on Pearl, has booths. No view but I like it.

In the La Jolla Village shopping center (not near the ocean) there is Islands, a chain, but it's fun with lotsa booths and a fun Hawaiian style atmosphere. Burgers, fries, tacos, soup, chicken, etc.

Do you like sushi? Great sushi at Kikuya (Kiku Ya?), and 4 or 5 booths plus tables, in the small shopping center on the corner of Genesee avenue and Governor drive, just a couple miles south of La Jolla Village drive and south of the UTC (University town centre.) In the Vons shopping center. They also serve chicken terriyaki, etc. My son thinks they have the best sushi in town and he's a sushi lover.

Just noticed the booth requirement, which I had overlooked before. Probably Sbicca and Il Fornaio are not the kind of place you might want to consider then.
Have fun in that beautiful area, nevertheless!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Now, I need a few recommendations for super casual or fast food type places in the Del Mar, La Jolla, North County area. Not McDonalds, etc, but maybe some local chain I haven't heard of (like In and Out Burger) or another quick place that's acually pretty good . Thanks.

Rubio's!! I love Rubios.

If you want some good carry out there is a organic market on Del Mar Heights Rd just east of the 5. It's in the same shopping center as Ralphs - it's called Jimbo's. You can't go wrong if you want a wide selection of fresh take out food. Great for a picnic.

I've noticed that a little chain called Tacos El Gordo is moving up the coast. They started in Chula Vista and I saw one in Pacific Beach the other day, who knows they may have one in Del Mar by now. This place makes a really good but simple taco with a wide assortment of all the basic fillings; pork, chicken, beef etc.

Rubio's is a good little chain also.

There is a Chevy's in Del Mar that many people like.

There is a Daphne's in Carlsbad which is a regional chain with good Greek food for carry out and with ample indoor and outdoor seating. In the same shopping center is Joey's, with good BBQ. It's mostly carryout but there are a few indoor and outdoor tables. They are at the corner of Aviara and El Camino Real.
For even better Greek food, try the Armenian Cafe in Carlsbad. There are some booths inside, but the patio seating is much nicer. It's on 101 near downtown. It's one of our favorites.
In Del Mar, a good place for breakfast and lunch is Pacifica Breeze, right in the center of town. You order at a counter and the food is delivered. It's all outdoor seating.
In Solana Beach, we like the Pacific Coast Grill for great hamburgers and fries. It also has both indoor and outdoor seating.
A little further north is the Beach Grass Cafe, for wonderful breakfasts -- and not just the typical bacon and eggs. It has some booths inside, and some outdoor seating. It's popular for lunch and dinner as well, but we think the breakfasts are where it excels.
