On a shallow note, out of the blue, my wonderful mother in law bought me the Tumi Weekender and Chanel No5. She had no idea that I wanted either.

Patrick and Borealis, my thoughts go out to both of you. Do cherish this time; it's a real blessing. I'm so happy for both of you that you truly have something to celebrate this Christmas.

I would like a house in each of my favorite locations, please! I'd inhabit them for a month or so at the peak of my favorite seasons. For instance, cherry blossom time in Kyoto, Christmas in Vienna, etc. But of course I'd keep a house here in San Francisco for July and August - because I'm a true blue S.F.'er who loves the summer fog.

Thanks for all my great gifts but next year could you put a trip to NYC under the tree? And maybe one to London too. And a trip to Hawaii for my little one? Oh and a Las Vegas golf vacation for DH. And of course the oldest needs to go to DC. If you can't fit all that under the tree how about a winning lottery ticket so I can pay for it all my self?
