DC - today to Sunday pm - Love some ethnic food ideas

Hi All

My husband surprised us with a trip to DC today (we're driving from Williamsburg now) to see, primarily, the Van Gogh exhibit. We will do the Mall as well. We will have our 10 and 12 yr old boys with us and they are adventurous eaters!

What I am really looking for is great ethnic eats (less than Zaytina prices!) - food trucks for lunch or restaurants that we can visit tonight. We're staying at the Embassy Suites Convention Center and would be helpful if walklable - our guys will walk a long distance.

Any last-minutes ideas are very much appreciated!

Cheers - Weespxx

FYI: the Metrorail station closest to the Phillips (Dupont Circle) is closed for the weekend, as is the next closest, Farrugut North.

Maybe you can check yelp for Ethiopian suggestions:

How about a lunch of Native American food at the Mitsitam Cafe at the Museum of the American Indian? It gets great reviews.

You're probably in DC by now so you know it is very cold but clear and beautiful today.

My suggestion for lunch is near the mall is the french patisserie, Paul, has great baguette sandwiches and hot chocolate & lattes.

For dinner, I agree with the suggestion for ethiopian. Look at Etete and Meskerem both in the Shaw neighborhood. It's a 30 minute walk from your hotel so given the cold, so I'd take a cab.

The Logan Circle/14th Street corridor is overflowing with restaurants. RICE and Thai Tanic are two of my favorite Thai places, the later being more neighborhood-y than nice sit down. I like them both. Maybe a 15 minute walk from your hotel.

In Penn Quarter there is good raman shop, Daikaya. It's about a 10 minute walk from your hotel.

Have fun!

Full Kee at 509 H St NW is excellent Chinese - decor is not exactly posh, but food is just like we ate in China and prices very reasonable. Walkable from your hotel, too. http://fullkeedc.com/

A second on Mitistam.

Jaleo (Spanish) might work for you.
