DC to Baltimore on a Sunday
We are thinking of attending a Ravens game this Fall. I would love to combine this with a DC trip. I tried to look on the train service website - it seems like it would be easiest to make our base for several days in DC and take a train to Baltimore for the day of the game. Is this a good idea? I couldn't see that there was train service on Sunday. The game is a 1pm game. As always, any advice is appreciated!

Check Amtrak for train schedule. The marc trains do not operate on Sunday.

You all are so good! Thanks! I will check it immediately.

One more quick question. From the amtrack station to the field??? Taxi, walk, suggestions? I will look it up, but I thought I would give it a shot here first. Thanks!!!

I don't know.

Ronkala, I found it on the website. Thank you so much!

It is 3.1 miles from the Amtrak station to M&T stadium. It would take nearly an hour to walk. Take a taxi or the light rail.

There are several nice low cost hotels near BWI Airport. The Light Rail runs from BWI through the city with a stop at Camden Yards, MT Bank Stadium, etc. all the way up to Hunt Valley north of the city. Staying in this area would also give you the option to connect with the Metro Bus that goes from the airport to Greenbelt (I believe that is the Metro stop) Metro to connect to DC. The DC Metro does run on Sundays - the Baltimore>DC Metro does not, so Amtrack is your other option to Union Station.
The light rail is $1.60 per trip, or you can buy a day pass. Ticket must be purchased prior to boarding. Baltimore also has a free Charm City Circulator bus that runs throughout the city. It is a great way to see our fascinating city. Believe me, there is so much more to Baltimore than the Inner Harbor! As a matter of fact, why not stay in Baltimore? Here is the MTA site: http://mta.maryland.gov Let me know if I can offer more options. |
Oh, and to get from Baltimore Penn to MT Bank stadium is easy. Outside of Penn Station, go to the Charm City Circulator stop (PURPLE ROUTE). Take it (for FREE!) through the city to the CROSS ST MARKET stop in Federal Hill[ you will go down St Paul/Light through the Inner Harbor]. Its a short walk to the stadium from there and you will get to see great shops, wonderful places to eat and a sea of PURPLE PASSION. Just follow the crowd to the stadium!
GO RAVENS! |
