Anyone want to offer their favs / absolute "don't miss" eateries? We will be there all week and it's always helpful to know ahead of time what's good.

So many to name...

Kinkead's - Contemporary - Penn Ave at 20th St - #1 on my list, has a focus on seafood but other choices as well, excellent desserts

Mendocino Grill - California - M St in Georgetown

Cactus Cantina - Mexican - Wisconsin Ave just north of Nat'l Cathedral

Georgia Brown's - Southern - go for Sun brunch if you are in town - 15th St, NW between I & K Sts

Maggiano's (a national chain but the food is still great!) - Italian - Wisconsin Ave at Chevy Chase, MD border

Bread & Chocolate - cafe - 23rd St at M - go for a casual lunch

Zaytinya -- greek/turkisk mezzes in a great room

Jaleo -- best tapas

Ceiba and DC Coast -- great menus.

Kincaid's -- a second

If you're interest in a city institution, Ben's Chili Bowl.

The restaurant at the American Indian Museum is an interesting and tasty break from standard museum fare.

Wow. Thanks to all for your help. Sounds like we have some great choices.
To Mike T, we like pretty much everything, local places mostly, but definitely agree on Magianno's as we have one here in Charlotte. We love Italian, Mexican, Cuban, Mediterranian, Thai.......pretty much everything.

I thought of one more recommendation, if you are adventurous that is - Marrakesh on New York Ave. It is authentic Moroccan, complete with belly dancing and an absence of silverware.

Ahhh. DC-my old stomping ground. Everyone here has given you very very sound advice!! You can't go wrong with any of those.

One more try: If you want an amazing Asian fusion restaurant..try TenPenh, it's cooincidentally on 1010 Pennsylvania Avenue....they have a website...it's absolutely wonderful, pricey....but even at age 25, I managed to find the cash =0

would be interested in knowing where u ate and how you like the food. La Paradou is fantastic for French as the chef had 2 Michelin stars when he lived in france. The portions here in DC are quite small by american standards. An open and soothing atmosphere lend to convivial conversation.
