DC Restaurant Recs Please
We will be in DC next week primarily to visit my son who living in DC for the summer. He and his girlfriend are living in the Dupont Circle area and we will be staying in that area as well. We all love to eat any kind of ethnic food, we all love seafood. Not really looking for 4 star over the top fancy places and dives are welcome. I know my son has discovered a few places but I thought I would chek with the DC experts!

My favorite place for fish in the Dupont Circle area is Mourayo:
http://mourayous.com Not inexpensive, but very very good -- and that applies to the non-fish dishes as well! It features Greek cuisine, the service is excellent, and one can actually hear one's dinner companions (which is not always the case with restaurants in the Dupont Circle area). Enjoy your visit! |
I answered you in the Lounge. I have not tried the place kja suggested -- thanks for that recommendation!

I hope you enjoy it, obxgirl! And of course, report back. |
LIke kja, the first place that came to mind when I saw your post is Mourayo. The fish is delicious and well prepared. The restaurant is just south of Dupont Circle on Connecticut Ave.
|
I went there once also. It was good. It's north of the circle.

Thanks for the info on Mourayo - have not had fish there, but agree their food is good.
|
Thank you! I need to extend my stay so I can try all of these places!

A friend of mine originally from San Diego took me to Rosa's, and it was absolutely wonderful.

Nora's is one of my favorite small restaurants, not far from Dupont Circle. Reservations are a must - and it is worth the effort.

Around Dupont Circle we recently ate at these four places.
Kramerbooks Café (very good with a large variety of food on the menu), Pizzeria Paradiso (excellent pizza), Bier Baron (more of a beer tavern with tons of beer selections), Zorba’s Café (wonderful Greek food, low key, you order at the counter then take the food to the table yourself). |
Something my family found fun was the food carts at Farragut Square. Everyone got to choose their own cart. I had empanadas, DD had fish tacos, parents and nephew had Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, and sis and niece had some sort of vegan thing. The waits were fairly long, but we had no time constraints.
