Leaving for DC on Wednesday & have finalized most of the itineray. Just have a couple questions. If anyone has input, that would be great.
1. Restaurant suggestion for Sunday evening near our hotel, the Omni Shoreham. We are generally adventurous & would be up for Italian, Fusion, Seafood or something else. Moderate pricing would be great. Would be willing to walk to Adams Morgan or other close area.

2. Restaurant suggestion for Monday night in Georgetown. Have seen suggestions for Mendicino, Filmena, Smith Point. Any favs?

3. Monday morning we are going to Arlington National Cemetary. I printed out the directions from the metro website and it shows transferring from the red line to the yellow line and then to the blue line. Is this correct? Is this a pain? Is there an easier way to get there from the Omni?

Any recs for breakfast on Sunday morning near the JW Marriott?

1. You can't do better than Cashion's in that area of town. If you're interested, call NOW. Reservations can be tough to get. http://www.cashionseatplace.com

2. I don't eat in Georgetown, there are too many other areas of town with much better food that are easier to get to. If you're committed to G'town, someone else on this board will have to help you.

3. Yes, there is an easier way. From your hotel: Take the Red Line to Metro Center (toward Glenmont or Silver Spring), then transfer to a Blue Line train (toward Franconia/Springfield).

There is a chain restaurant called "Corner Bakery" in the same building complex as the JW Marriot (on the west end of the shopping arcade, next to Filenes Basement). It's pretty good: eggs, bacon, various breads (of course), coffee, espresso, fresh juice etc. They don't open untill 9am on weekends.

Thanks for the info, bardo. I looked at Cashion's website and will call to make a reservation as soon as I get offline...sounds great! Not stuck on G-town, will be there in the late afternoon. We could also head back to the Omni to freshen up and then head somewhere for dinner. Do you have another suggestion?

There ARE lots of good restarants in Georgetown, but there ae even more bad ones. Again, get feedback first.
Here is a list I've posted before. Call ahead to reserve. All are withing walking distance of Dupont Metro station (Bistro Du Coin is close to and walkable from your hotel).

Here's the "best of dupont" - these places will likely need a reservation between 7-9:30 pm, especially weekends

Do you want expensive or more casual for Monday in Georgetown? Casual - Pizzeria Paradiso is a fav. Cafe Milano is good Italian. Mie N Yu is interesting Asian/Fusion and a cool atmosphere.

Citronelle is super expensive but one of the best restaurants in DC.

Filemena is pretty old- I had one of my first dates w/my husband there like 20 yrs ago. Mendicino is really good IMO- if I am goign to Goergetown I try to go there. Smaller (get reservations NOW if you are going) and intimate, fairly casual, great food and a good wine menu, and I have hjad good, friendly service there.

Try Sea Catch in Georgetown for seafood, Divan for Turkish, Pizza Paradiso for wonderful pizza, Citronelle for very upscale gourmet dining and Bistro Francais for French. Unfortunately, Georgetown's best restaurant, Bistrot Lepic, is closed on Monday. If you are willing to travel a bit for really good food, go to the up- and-coming Penn Quarter downtown and have mezze at Zaytinya, or eat at Ten Penh (Asian Fusion), Jaleo (tapas), Cafe Atlantico (Caribbean) or Ginger Cove (Jamaican).
I think the Old Ebbitt, about two blocks from the JW Marriott on 15th St. has Sunday brunch.

I second Sea Catch in Georgetown. My husband and I ate there this past April and had a wonderful meal. Ask for seating on the canal.
