DC - Newseum - is it worth the cost?

Has anyone been to the newly opened Newseum? If so, did you think it was worth the cost? Were the exhibits interesting? There is obviously so much to do in DC and I am trying to determine what might be worthwhile. I'll be there in August for 4.5 days and have a full itinerary.

In my opinion, it's absolutely worth the cost of admission. We spent a good 5 hours there and could have spent much more if we went to see all of the movies and fully took part in the interactive exhibits. For what it's worth, the Washington Post recently did a review of the newly-opened museums in D.C. that charge admission, including the Newseum, Madame Tussauds, and the Spy Museum, and rated the Newseum their top "must-see" among admission-charging museums (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv...308/chart.html).

I agree. This is a fantastic, absolutely engrossing museum! We spent 3 or so hours there and I wish we had a lot more time.

Thanks. Not sure if I can spare 3-5 hours in one place though!

I guess my question would be was it worth writing the question in the first place?

As well as you don't know if you have enough time for it?

Unfortunately the Newseum is NOT a free museum as most museums are in DC. Obviously many people feel that certain things ARE worth the cost.
