DC Museums.
 

I've been reading my guidebook and I'm interested in getting some people's thoughts on several of the museums in DC.
I'm interested in the International Spy Museum, National Air and Space Museum and National Museum of American History.
And also what the US Holocaust Memorial Museum like?

Looking for opinions on the ones I've mentioned and open to suggestions of other Museums, or anything really, that I should see/do on my first trip to DC. I will be there for 5 or 6 days.

I would say the Air and Space and American History museums are "must dos"; the holocaust is a strong "should do." The Spy Museum is fun, but make sure you see the others first as well as other DC spots (Such as the sculpture garden on the mall if its a nice day). I don't think the Spy Museum is in the top ten for a first visit to DC. You didn't mention any art museums, but the National Gallery is terrific as is the Hirshorn. Paddleboats by the Jefferson Memorial are also fun. Finally, I'd also check out Ford's Theater. It doesn't take long and it's a lovely, spooky feeling.

Air and Space is a "must do" only if you are into such things, otherwise it's a little dated and crawling with 10 year olds. The Holocaust Memorial is an important space, but it takes a long time to appreciate (2-3 hours).

I'd agree with the others. Air and Space is great if you are interested in airplanes and space - last time I went they had a WWII room that was very interesting.

American History is quite interesting, I'd go.

Holocaust is very powerful - it can be a downer but if you are interested in learning and understanding more about that period it is very good.

Spy museum - is probably better if you have kids. Also, this one is not free, while the others are.

Other things to do - walk around to the various monuments, national zoo if you like animals, the national cathedral, wander around Georgetown, visit Arlington Cemetery...

The Museum of American History is my favorite, along with the excellent--but very different, of course--National Gallery. At the MAH you will see many interesting things from America's past, including a great exhibit of First Ladies'inaugural gowns. There are frequent special exhibits in addition to the on-going ones. The MAH is a good museum for wandering; don't miss it.
