DC Metro from Reagan Airport
Is there a Metro stop at Reagan Airport? If yes, how long does it take to ride from airport to Pennsylvania Avenue/Mall area?
|
Both lines at National will get you to the Mall area in 15-20 minutes.

I was in DC a few weeks ago. We took the metro from National Airport to our hotel which is at the L'Efant Plaza stop. From there you can walk to National Air/Space, which is at the beginning of the mall heading towards the Washington Monument (which is closed right now).
The L'Efant was the 4th stop from the airport. |
Thanks for the info.
How crazy do you think the Metro will be on Inauguration Day? |
Sorry, that's L'Enfant. Check out http://www.wmata.com/
You can print out different routes for your destinations. I did that and it saved a lot of time trying to decide which line(s) to take. |
It'll be busy, but they'll likely run extra trains. But as aggravating as the Metro can be sometimes, they generally step up their game for big events, even on national days of mourning like the next inauguration day :) (sorry, couldn't resist.)

I've worked in DC for 15 years. The only day I've ever seen the Metro system more crowded than on the Fourth of July after the fireworks (a legendary mess) was on the day of Clinton's second inauguration. In past years, if inauguration fell on a weekday, they closed federal offices so as not to have lots of federal workers taking Metro: that's how many visitors were expected.
My guess is that Metro will be a zoo, especially if you try to take it within a few hours before or after the parade on Pennsylvania Avenue. If you've got luggage, take a cab to your hotel. If not, just be prepared for a crowd. |
I know what you mean repete. I was there 2 days after the election and visited the White House. Oh how I wished Georgie Boy wouldn't be squatting there 4 more years!! We mailed postcards with Bush's smiling face to our friends that voted for him.
A good sense of humor is going to be important for awhile! |
I was there for the last inauguration and the Metro was insane and if memory serves correct, some stops might have been closed. Something to consider.
